So I'm in my escort in a heated battle against an Apex battleship. I'm taking a beating but holding my own. Get his shields down to almost nothing and swing around for the finishing blow. We go head to head, phasers and cannons blazing... his forward shields are down but so are mine. I fire a salvo of torpedoes to finish him off as my hull dips below 50%. As the first explosion blooms from his cracked hull I set engines to full and start to turn to face my mostly intact port shields to take the brunt of the blast wave... and then one of my bridge officers pops up to tell me we defeated him... and my engines go to all stop...and I can't turn... and I get caught in the blast wave and die because I couldn't close the message window fast enough.

Please can we not have any comms, pop-up windows or anything that shuts down our engines and keeps us from being able to steer our ships while we are in Red Alert status? Nothing ruins the feel of a skin of your teeth victory more than not being able to make your escape from the blast wave because your bridge officer is chattering away about how we won. Did we really win??

There's a option to not stop engines during communications. It's not exacly what you asked for but will help.

Ah cool that is helpful...I'll dig through the options and find it. I can probably work with that so I don't die quite as often.

It's still poor game design since you can't alter direction.

Oh I agree that not having directional control of your ship as it hurtles towards a giant explosion is not a very good design at all. At least with the option to not come to a full stop there's a chance I might make it far enough away from the blast wave while I try to close the dialog box... at least until hopefully the issue is addressed.
I mean it can't be that difficult to put a condition in that says that if red alert is in effect for the ship then no dialog windows appear. Or if that's not an option at least let us retain control of speed and direction when said windows pop up.

Yeah especially in PvP when you warp in and the fedball is camping your spawn...makes for lots of fun...

I think the best will be that If you are in red alert you have to manually click on the comm alert in order to show. After the red alert it automatically shows.

I would be more than happy with that solution.

Forget to add: "Auto hide comms in red alert!"
