You know, honestly, I get tired of all the talk of 'I doubt they'll finish the Klingons before the new faction come out'. It shows no faith in the developers at all. They brought a whole new concept in MMOs out and you are complaining because things weren't finished. If you were business people, you would understand that the market was ripe for this MMO at the time, seeing as the new Star Trek movie came out. With free advertising, in a sense, they would have been stupid to not capitalize on this. They have been working earnestly on content for both factions. Klingons are the pvp faction right now. Yes, there will be another one, but I see the Romulans as having more of a story to detail out in content than the Klingons really do. They just lost their planet and there is huge upheaval. Most likely Romulans will have the same access as Klingons at the beginning.

Please start believing in your devs. They have put together a lot of things for our enjoyment, and their focus is definitely on the future of this game.

I think it shows that the 'no child left behind" legislation is a total failure because people are living without any reasoning skills that they shoudl have learned in school.
I can say that being canadian. ; )

If you are going to try to insult me, I would suggest not attacking education policy. For one, I was educated far before No Child Left Behind, and second it was a feeble strike against rhetoric. You tried to come off sounding educated, but sadly ended up sounding too much like a book-smart egotistical tecno-geek who knows nothing about American educational policy, nor logic.

it didn't read to me like he was insulting you but agreeing with what you were saying about people. Maybe you should have checked before going on the defensive?

You're the kind of people MMO companies hope for. Release a shoddy product, give to you statements / promises / plan for improvements over the course of at first months, then going into a year or so, and actually doing little or none of what they said they would do. They'd bait you along with these promises, and you'd follow those crumbs wherever they may go, all the while forking money over to their greedy, grasping hands. But you constantly hope that with continued support, the game will come out to what you imagined it could be... no, what it WILL be. And then, after spending something like 2 years on a bad MMO, giving over alot of hard earned money, seen little improvement, or watch the patches slow to a crawl with fewer additions, do you then realize the final truth: You've been f**ked. Hard. And they took their time doing it, too.

Also, who says that the Romulan gameplay will be already a better experience? Just because Romulus blew up? Do you want to know what will bring a better storyline?

Good designers - To mold and guide the overall effort
Good writers - Bring background and flavor to the missions and game world
Good programmer - The guys that try to make something happen out of nothing.

Anyways, the Klingons can have a great storyline. Just like the Romulans, they have a long history in Star Trek... they are one of the original major races introduced by TOS. They too have been featured in countless ST shows and movies. And if I may point out, have been in far more ST movies than the Romulans. The Klingons over the course of ST tv shows have had numerous Klingon-themed story arcs, far more than the Romulans. TOS/TMP era? Kirk has squared off against Klingons far more than any other group he has encountered. Hard to imagine the Federation of that era NOT in conflict with the Klingons. TNG writers LOVED them, and Michael Dorn had numerous chances to shine with his character, Worf, because of those numerous story arcs. DS9, especially with the arrival of the Dominion War, had heavy, heavy doses of Klingon story and background.

The only reason why the background story for Klingons in STO sucks like a sucking chest wound is because the developers blatantly ignored the faction to devote their time and resources on the Federation.

Personally I'm patiently waiting for the day I can finally play a Romulan... within that faction there is so much you can do... no other faction has as developed a backstory and variety of cultural aspects, from the fully corrupt minion of the Romulan council, to the ultra ethical exploration captain, with all permutations inbetween... including my favorite, the dedicated front line Commander of a Warbird who understands the balance between duty to the empire and the horror of war and when to make the right choice.

I personally hope for the Romulans - it opens up a lot of capabilities. A criticism of Warhammer PvP was for example that with only ever two sides, there ended up being a lot of acrimony and disagreement focused laser-like on the opposing side. You also get population balance issues. With three sides, things become a lot more complex & actually the game develops more maturely as a result. That's the theory anyway.

Of course, I am up there agreeing with everyone else that they had better finish the Klingons properly as well. Even the same 'shoot five things, scan five things' cookie cutter PvE we have for the Federation would do, provided it felt Klingon (which it doesn't at the moment).
