Just did it with a random handful of people. I think there were eight of us, and only had one person shooting shards luckily.

Edit: hanful, haha

# 12 Confused

I just spent 3 hours this Saturday morning trying to do this boss. I'm a little confused as to why a player, King Cobra, who is a Rear Admiral kept coming in and killing multiple shards whenever we got it down to 30%. He spent the same amount of time doing this as I did trying to complete the quest. Why would a player 28 levels higher than the boss spend over 2 hours doing nothing but sabotaging it for everyone else? I feel sorry for the players who are weekend warriors and get their playtime ***** by spoilers. It's tough enough doing it with all the randoms who don't know the fight. Is this the quality of gameplay I have to look forward to, low level Fleet Actions being sabotaged by high level players. I have just reached the rank of Commander and besides the crafting this is the only thing I've found that would make me drop the game. Should I just blow off doing it until I hit max. level then just come back and solo it? How would you go about doing an open instance solo? Very disappointed in the higher ranked Federation players this is not the first time within the game I've seen them trying to spoil things.

I keep thinking that the mission is supposed to teach us that sometimes you can't win by fighting.
You know, if you leave the entity alone, it actually NEVER EATS A SINGLE PLANET !!!

But we still keep shooting it out of prejudice.
As soon as I rank up and my science officer learns how to Emmit an intermittent graviton pulse I'm heading back... and we're going to sit down with some earl grey and chat things out.

It's called griefing. Probably some kid having laughs at your expense. In every mmorpg there will be a percentage of players only interested in ruining the game for other people because they are selfish. Remember the name (especially the @name part if you can get it) and if you ever see him again in one of your missions just change instances or get out of it and start over.

Well, one could still argue that a mission where the Crystal Entity works like in the show might feel more "Startrekky", rather than having an enemy that is just inspired by it but works very different.

I wouldn't mind a "Make friendly contact with Crystal Entity" mission. But it would obviously not be a Fleet Action mission requring good teamwork. Maybe later, once they make branching storylines. (So you still have the option of becoming friends or destroying it.)
