So, I'm nearly a Rear Admiral 2 -- have been promoted by Admiral Quinn, attended the promotion ceremony, however I cannot get my Tier 5 ship... I have the plaque from Quinn, but when I select a ship, it doesn't highlight, nor does the "buy" become a clickable option. If I double click, it asks if I'm sure I want it, I say ok or yes (can't recall) and nothing happens....

Definitely not enjoying making it to Admiral and not getting my new ship!!!

I think there is a cap on # of ships you can own. Just discharge and unused ship and then try to get a new one. Worked for me, sounds exactly like my problem..
