I was looking back through some of the older TOS books and thought about how the book "The Great Starship Race" was such a great idea. It seems that adapting this for STO would be a breeze and a chance for a co-op type mission with other gamers. Also an effective use of Sector Space. Imagine actually flying your ships between stars and being quicker on the trigger than the next guy to pull otu and go get items in this or that system. As a recurring mission, you could get your homies together and have a rqace rather than a ground battle all the time. There could be ambushes along the way at various places and a lot of stuff to scan. It could be a lead in to another episode by uncovering clues to something or another for the winner as a reward. Imagine a new mission as the reward for completing a daily mission.
