can anyone clarify this for me. why do we have devices??? i dont get it. in my tactical escort i have two slots to put devices in. now here is the tricky part. i can only activate one device, it has a cooldown of 5 min and my second device is on the same cooldown.
now lets look at the cruiser, this ship can put in 4 devices. WHY? they are all on the same cooldown, this means the other devices are prety much useless. just seems like 2 more bagspace. and 5 minutes seems to long.
is there anyway to cut the cooldown back or to take them of the same cooldown.
I would not mind it if maybe they hall had separate cool downs, but I like that they have a very long cool down.
5 minutes might be pushing it but I think that this way they're intended to be used sort of as an emergency measure, like when your team's support ships are on a cool down or something.
I've honestly not used them very often, just sell them to the replicator. I should check the AH for prices though, TBH, they're so common I'm sure they're not worth much.
I think the boost is ok, but the cool down is definitely waaay to long for the effect it gives.
I think at higher levels they also become less useful, they should have large and small versions like the ground devices.
IDK, realistically though I haven't used them enough to really get a feel for them. I only really use them in deep space encounters when I get rolled by multiple spawns or I bite off more than I can chew, and even then I usually hit the engine battery and just haul a$$ out of there.
More device-slots mean more versatility. Maybe you need a weapon battery at the moment (because you got attacked out of full impulse and need some weapon power to strike back), next time you want an engine battery to crank engine power up for evasive, ...
