Just wondering if anyone is actually playing with the same Quality as shown on the video?

Heh, typical. I complain in the first Expanding Universe thread about potential lack of content, and then Cryptic come out with a video like this - voices alone make the universe more interesting and immersive. Well done and can't wait!

(I'm particularly impressed because I'd never expected this sort of thing to turn up - there's something about open and honest developers with engineering reports that makes things even more fun when they surprise you with more stuff)

Close up certainly I would say what the engine is showing me isn't far off what you see in those videos.

VO for your BO staff is still in the works - but as mentioned in a thread someone already found some of the sound files.

Just curious as to what the hold-up is. I was able to help out a little with the beta, and noticed the option for voices, but was well aware that they weren't working as intended. Yet.

And then comes the release version, and the option is removed entirely. ;_;

I run the game maxed at 1680x1050 with the exception of Dynamic Lighting turned off and using Low Quality Shadows. The former because of the old ATI bug on ground missions, the latter because Cryptic's implementation looks terrible, IMHO. Also, Low Quality shadows boosts my framerate by a good 10-20%, so not only does the game look better with it off, it plays much better.

Given that, yeah -- my game looks pretty much like the videos.
Some specs for comparison:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 running OC'd at 3.6GHz
4GB of RAM running at 800MHz
ATI Radeon HD 4890 w/ 1GB video memory

Lol nice! For a while I had 'Carrier has arrived!' as my 'user has come on online' sound in AIM...and I know what unit you are talking about too, it's the Goliath. Coincidently, I always thought that its voice sounded like Michael Dorn!
