# 1 Combat Dialogue

What's the best part of ship combat in Star Trek? The Captain yelling commands at his crew, growing more desperate as the situation worsens.

At the start of combat, Captains are clam. "Alright Ensign, take us out of warp, arm phasers...." etc.

But by the time a battle is in full swing, "Emergency power to shields! Evacuate deck 7, divert life support to structural integrity!".....boom....

We lack this excitement in STO. Of course, as players, we get involved in crazy PvP matches and whatnot, but our ships and crews stay the same. We have this a little, when the computer tells us things like, "Right shields failing",or "hull integrity at 75%", but we're not flying shuttles, we have Galaxies and Intrepids.

Why not add some simple auto-emotes to space combat? It would be simple, and action/situation activated. Click on your port shields, and your captain could say "Divert power to port shields." Given that many abilities are the same, just different levels (Emergency Power to Shields, for Instance), these could have emotes as well.

This would be a further refinement of character customization - you pick stances, uniforms, and have TONS of other customization options, so why not choose their voices too? Taken a step further, you could choose voices for your Officers, and they could report things. Your highest ranked Tactical officer could shout enemy situations - 'Enemy shields down." Your highest ranked Engineer could announce your status - "Hull integrity at 25%!"

Perhaps, as your hull integrity lowers and your shields are destroyed, the voices grow more desperate. This might be a little much, but could add a great element of excitement and suspense.Obviously you could option this off, or maybe option it to less often.

Actually there was an option in beta to give voices to your bridge officers. you picked they type of voice they had from a list. They removed it because they couldn't get it working right for launch but I definitly see this as a coming feature in the game.

yeah it would be cool if aside from just the computer informing your hull is below 75% that your officers would start declaring that they're evacuating decks and rerouting power from the Xbox to the engines and what not.

Maybe even when your crew hits a certain point they could say something like "Sir, casualties on decks 7 through 9"

I think they could do a good job at making the reports random with out making them happen at inappropriate times (ie at full shields you shouldn't receive a dialog stating that your lost power from decks 9 through 15 and you're venting plasma from the EPS conduits on deck 16)

SFC 3 has lots of voice commands which Crypitc can learn from. I personally LOVED the sexy devious female voice of a romulan.

"It's an old navy tradition, ensign, it's to keep the crew from panicking." :p
