So I had been using a green mk x Techyon assault rifle and doing Infected: Fact or Fiction, didn't get through it with my random group so I went with my fleet mates later on...however I picked up an Antiproton mk x version from the daily badges, the damage listed showed as identical with actually less perks than the green mk x, but it matched my costume...yeah...I'm like that...

However, I was surprised that it seemed like i was doing a ton more damage with this gun even though it didn't have all the procs of my Techyon gun...am I missing something or was this just a fluke?

nope its supposed to do more damage vs borg. i use that kind against the borg with low shield strength and against the ones without shields because it does do so much.

i still use tetryon to this day (bought a really good one in exchange rare split beam) because this lowers the shields of those with strong shields. also using two types of damage types is very good against them.
