# 1 Emergency Power to Weapons
03-23-2010, 09:09 PM
So, for an Escort, or in general....

How much better is EPW compared to EPShields?

And what does putting points in Weapons Efficiency DO to boost EPW? Because I find it hard to justify all those points in Weapons Efficiency when my setting will never be below 75.

Or will it matter if I don't have a lot of points in Weapon Efficency.

Efficiency boosts your power levels when they're set to level below 75.

I think Maintainence is what you're looking for.

Yes I know, I stated that in the post.

What I wanted to know is what Efficiency did to boost EPW, since that is one of the 3 that modify it. Reading is fundamental.

I find EPW really boosts my DPS on my escort by greatly , albiet temporarly, raising my weapons power stat.
I use it in conjuction with Bfat, and Csv for a huge DPS bonus with I do my straffing runs.

Skills which boost the Emergency Power to X abilities increase the power bonus that the skill provides, so instead of getting +10 to weapons power, you might get +15 (I have no idea how the exact numbers work out for skills invested).

I was going to go to EPWs but the power levels I get from EPS is much better. Which is why I stack batteries nonstop now.

It seems work better doing that. Personal preference.

All three related skills are listed under " ... the magnitude" in the available abilities screen.
So they all increase the power bonus.

I have 7/7/9 in those skills (warp core/maintenance/efficiency) and I get 21 power with tier I and 27 with tier II.

Additionally I consider this ability a must-have for pve when you are focussing on dealing dmg. It's actually a key-talent imo.

I'm getting 23 from WPW Tier II. With 7/7/0. ( No skill points to spare for Efficiency)

So that means when I'm running at 115 weapon power, for the damage it still reads it as 125. But for drain purposes, it reads it as 138 correct? At least my testing seems to bare this out when I don't drop very much per shot below 125.

That's exactly how it works. 125 is the soft cap and the maximum for dmg calculation. But drain starts at your actual power lvl, which can be as high as you can manage to achieve.

Then that makes EPW a pretty damn useful skill. Thanks.
