Or has that been scratched off the drawing boards altogether.

If by that you mean "exploring other solar systems" ...
There is no indication anywhere that this will ever happen.
Of course, it also depends on what you mean by "explore".

Currently, "Exploration" is you in a fishtank, moving around from label to label.

To me, "Exploration" should be
0) Receiving a mission from Starfleet to explore a distant solar system
1) Warp travel (not sector space) and arrival at a distant solar system,
2) charting of planets, orbital paths,
4) their classes,
4) their composition and habitability,
5) exploration and categorization of flora and fauna,
6) discovery of possible civilizations, leading to --> first contact missions
7) discovery of possible existing colonization attempts by rival factions --> Diplomacy missions
8) preliminary geological surveys by Science BOs
9) preliminary resource evaluations by Science and Engineering BOs
... so on.

There is no indication anywhere that this will ever happen.

If by that you mean "explore OUR Solar System" ...
There is no indication anywhere that this will ever happen.
Besides, has it not been "explored" already by the 24th Century?

I'm almost certain we were told at about the time of release that we'd be able to fly around the Sol system seeing all the planets and Pluto, about a week later. I assume this is what the OP is talking about, which would seem to reinforce the idea that I didn't imagine it.

Was this a statement from Cryptic?

I know that Perpetual (the original STO "Devs" that never actually developed anything) made these claims, and also I believe Gamespot and a few other retailers may have been using an old product description that claimed this also.

I absolutely remember the Dev's posting that they were going to let players explore the Sol System. They were going to add all the planets and various space stations. The announcement came out like a week or two after release. I've been wondering about this too and a quick search of the website leaves the announcement conspicuously absent.

Hmmm....very strange, wonder what happened?

Daniel Stahl said the planets are ready but they are waiting for the devs to finish the missions we will find on the planets before releasing it. My guess is SOL won't make it before Season 2.

Probably not seeing as it's popularity level would be somewhere near the bottom of the barrel.

Maybe it will or maybe not. Our solar system will be pretty built up by the 24th century so it's implementation would likely a variety of social spots like Risa or Vulcan

Haven't seen any info on this for a long, long time, wonder if it did indeed get scraped? For what it's worth, it is something I'd like to see in game.

With all the strange new worlds and new civilizations, I don't get the interest in the Sol System. It seems so mundane.
