I was just wondering how many Klingon players would be rolling a romulan toon when that faction comes online. I know I will be doing so. I love the Klingon style but also apprecite the polite treachery that only romulans excell at.

I'd roll a Romulan so I can hear the Feds howl in disbelief when my Warbird decloaks and alpha strikes them to oblivion Massive decloaking alpha strikes is how the Romulans play, especially the more powerful vessels.

There are 2 ships that I want from their lineup: D'Deridex and Valdore classes.

The Valdore is seen in Star Trek: Nemesis, the ones that helped the Ent-E against the Reman Warbird. Love the look of that ship and how modders in other Star Trek games have implemented those ships.

The D'Deridex is a no brainer. For TNG era ships, it is easily by far the most commonly shown Romulan warship. Big, powerful, sluggish, but devastating power, all of which can be concealed in a cloaking device.

Speaking of cloaking, Romulan cloaks are known to be the best.

With these in mind, I'm guessing from a KDF perspective, the differences between KDF & Romulan ships will be:
1) Tougher Romulan hulls
2) Utterly sluggish maneuverability with the more advanced, larger ships. The battle that crippled the Tal Shiar and Obsidian Order saw the poor performance of Warbirds with no support / cover against the numerous Jem'Hadar attack ships.
3) Deadly frontal arcs, poor rear weapons.
4) Heavy reliance on Escorts / Light Cruisers to cover the flanks and rear of the powerful but front heavy Warbirds.

I can readily see a Romulan PvP team at T4/T5 with D'Deridex ships as the core, soaking the punishment and dealing a deadly frontal attack, while the light ships cover the vulnerable flanks and rear of the big Warbirds. The opposition is dancing to stay away from the front of the Warbirds.

If there ever is implemented PvP maps to destroy a large objective (i.e. starbase), Romulans would be VERY nasty in that regard.

you seem to think that because fed players don't wanna play klingons that they won't want to play romulans either.

Personally, I will wait to see what the content is like, if it is a “Klingon clone” (unfinished) then no Romulan for me, otherwise, if it is well thought out and has PVE missions I will scrap my thoughts of making a Klingon and go straight to Romulan, will wait to see what the forums say when the faction is introduced.

Yes, I firmly believe that. Especially when test server versions of the Romulans are going to be shown as incomplete as the Klingons.

I will be making a Hirogen when the Romulan faction goes live. The hunt will be glorious!

I just hope the race attributes and bonuses work out better then they did for klingons, I would actually like there to be romulans in the romulan empire, lol. But I will def be rolling a romulan when released, hope there is a storyline for it, and it is a complete faction.

They better fully flesh out Klingons with storyline PvE etc before jumping in with yet another half-finished faction!
I'm very eager to play Klingon. But without storyline PvE I just can't stomach it.

Same goes for whatever new faction they implement. Without PvE together with PvP there just is no fun.

If Romulans have ships bigger than the new KDF carrier skin, yes. Yes I would play a Romulan.

You just wanted us to see your penetration joke :p

Those new carriers look kind of interesting.

Speaking of ships, what special ship do you think the Romulans would get? I suspect this will be a theme for new factions, a unique acting ship.
