While I have been playing since beta and purchased an LTS, I am a more casual player (meaning that my priority is not this game). I am not seasoned; I've only gotten up to LtC. And while would certainly enjoy light/moderate RP, I don't have enough Star Trek lore knowledge for anything more and am unlikely to learn a new language to play the game.
I usually only play one or two times during the weekdays and then normally play for a couple of hours on Saturdays and Sundays. I primarily play PvE but would very much like to also play PvP (I'd need some coaching on the finer points of PvP tactics).
I would like to find a fleet that has a more rigid ranking/promotion structure as I think it is silly to be an Rear Admiral in STO and an Ensign in the game. I am flexible on this point but would love to find a fleet that operates the same way. I understand that such a fleet would require I create a new Federation Officer but that is quite alright with me.
I've been excited about STO since I first saw an article about it in Game Informer magazine. I am equally excited about the prospect of getting in with a fleet that will enhance my experience as well as the opportunity to contribute to the fleet in any way that I can. It gets kind of lonely doing all of my missions solo but I also don't like the random teaming option since they often end up being merely an opportunity to share loot without gaining a friend or using any sort of tactics.
While I know that my wants stated above are relatively specific (and almost make me sound like a prima donna), I only provided so much detail to ensure that I will fit in well with whatever fleet might join.
We are a very casual fleet, and are here to help our members get the most from their STO experience. We don't have a rigid structure in-game as you mentioned, but really only have two levels: NewGuy (brief trial period) and Member. We did this as we wanted to not have an overly rigid hierarchy where only member X gets to do that, and these bank tabs are off limits to members Y. You paid to play this game and contribute just like the rest of us, thus we felt limiting what you can do would not really be fair or reasonable. So we setup the fleet where we are all equal members.
Anyway, there's many more of our guiding principles and philosophies on our webpage and so I ask you to take a look there and see if it fits what you are looking for. If not, then I wish you the best of luck on your continued search.
The 528th sounds like just the place for you. We are a Socia-Casual fleet and have no bias toward any player. I enourage you to make an application at our website: http://528th.mmoguildsites.com/. We tend to interview players in-game or in ventrilo.
If you find that we are not for you then all the best in your search
If not, Hope to see you soon,
Project Navras may very well be the fleet you're looking for. We're a fleet nearing 60 ships, at the moment, devoting ourselves to enjoying every aspect that Star Trek Online has to offer, whether it's RP, PVP, or simply good, old fashioned PVE, with raids and fleet actions. We have our own forums, voice comms, and weekly schedule of events-- with member access to the Fleet Bank, and regularly-held contests for our members.
We have a complete award/medals system on our forums, thus allowing our members to earn commendations and decorations from their actions within the fleet. We also have divisions, allowing you to devote yourself to certain duties/responsibilities within the fleet that will help you in progressing through our ranking system.
If you're interested, then it all starts by checking out our fleet recruitment thread. The link is located in my signature-- and after that, check out our website and forums at www.ProjectNavras.com -- you might even decide to fill out an application.
