# 1 Cryptic Error Message

today i tried to get on to STO and it crashes as it says "Patching... " telling me to give a description of what happened up until the moment of the crash i've i done it 3 or 4 time now is there any chance any you guys can help out ?

Same exact issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail.

Sounds like you are getting the decompression errors that me and a few others are getting we started a thread that once got a DEV to look at it so I would go to this link, and try the steps that I have done and that MGmirkin has tried so that way we all can try to get this BS issue to the attention of the DEV's!

Sadly no, this is not related to the Decompression errors seen on the forums here. Instead, I'll bet apples to oranges that if you were to disable your running Norton Security by right-clicking on the tray icon and selecting disable protection then patching, it might not throw the error anymore.

Another way to fix this issue is to add an exclusion in your Norton Firewall for STO, I believe it's titled "GameClient.exe". Give that a shot and report back with your findings.
