I actually have some of the pre-nerf consoles and I think they should all be changed to the new starts. Grandfathering ftl.

I agree, grandfathering this was a bad idea. You can't have items with different stats depending on when you got them and pretend your game is balanced. It also helps create a market for gold sellers as people feel compelled to spend massive credits to obtain them in order to be competative.

Bottom line is if an item is changed it should be changed universally so that all players have equal chance to benefit from it.

You mean all players have equal chance to get their ship nerfed despite the fact that science ships are unimpressive except for a few abilities which are only good because they are broken and are currently being nerfed as well?

Grandfathering everything is very very very BAD!!!! It will turn new players off, so meaning STO is very dying now.

This problem needs to be fixed ASAP!!! Nerf all to 15+ or bring all new consoles back to its original value.

This, EXACTLY...

what the hell is going on here seriously Cryptic?

I think maybe we need a thread in the main forum I get the feeling they don't read these subforums...

How the hell can this be deliberately done and deemed acceptable?

Yep, it was an awful idea, I already had a full set of each type of consoles prenerf so it didn;t effect me in the slightest but other people levelling up get put at a much greater disadvantage.

Plus the fact they're BoE means the greed patrol goes nuts with em on the Exchange......

Some of those early badge hoarders who grabbed a ton pre-nerf are set for life ^^

also this

This nerf made very overpowered ablities overpowered, and okay abilitys suck.
And the fact that people can keep the stronger ones but new people can only get the suckish ones is even more stupid.

(Edit: No i still have the strong ones -.- )
Got to QFT that.

I have to agree with this. I haven't seen a *single* person, whether on the forums, in a podcast or other review site that's actually supports this change and the dev's current stance on the situation. Not only that, but the only explanation we get is that it was decided from a 'higher-up". Not the best way to keep your customer's happy if you ask me.

As a player with 4 characters all with MK X uncommon gear, even *I* feel this is totally unfair to anyone who wasn't already fully equipped. Not to mention it gives all other players little incentive to create new characters, Science officers or otherwise. They'll *never* hit the potential our already created and outfit characters are at.

The *only* reason this decision would make sense is if STO was dying and the devs wanted the higher level, older characters to go out with a bigger bang... At least that's the only thing I can think of.

I find it an awful idea, and i still have the good consoles.
They shouldnt have nerfed the consoles at all, they should have made the abilities more balanced.

With my Science ship i can lock a Cube down for 38 seconds, and the Science ship isnt my main ship my Escort is, so i didnt even put points into Science.
Or i fire Scramble Sensors at a bunch of Probes and they shoot each other for 29 seconds.
Ok that seams overpowered.

Now lets fire Tachyon Beam. bewooobewooobewoo ... yay i did 5% shield damage!

Now lets randomly nerf the consoles so i can still lock them out for 38seconds, and new people can do it for 30 seconds.
One is overpowered and the other is more overpowered.
Then i can drain 5% shield with Taychon Beam and he can drain 3%. (a guess)
One sucks and the other sucks more.

So erm what did this nerf accomplish?

I can't think of anything.

Come to think of it, has even one person who actually has and uses the old consoles spoken of this as a good idea?

Like I said earlier, I haven't seen anything remotely good about this change. I don't typically frequent *every* STO podcast and newsgroup out there, but actually went out of my way to track down a reasonable explanation about this change.

Aside from what I stated above, the only other reason for doing this was to do what's effectively insider trading. Those who've successfully sold consoles for 5-30 million and more are making bank, whether these changes are reversed in the future or not. Personally, I had well over 1.5K in 5th order badges on *two* characters before that patch, which equates to at least 70 of those MK X uncommon consoles, IF I had known about the change and how it was intentional. I was originally under the impression that Tribble was bugged for those... :/

Whatever the case, this needs to be addressed ASAP. Cryptic wants the community's support and feedback and this is easily the largest pressed, one-sided topic on the forums.
