Thanks for all your support everyone.
Well, Starfleet would probably say that all of its ships are explorers, and the only classes explicitly described as warships are the Defiant (which Sisko calls an "escort", presumably where the game got that name) and the Prometheus. The only single-purpose science ships are the Oberth and Nova. Non-canon sources like the tech manuals, meanwhile, call almost every Fed ship a heavy cruiser, regardless of its size or type, while the game limits "Heavy Cruiser" to just three very similar classes.

What I'm getting at is that, with the exception of obviously specialized vessels like the Defiant and Oberth, there's little canonical separation of most Starfleet ships into separate Escort/Cruiser/Science categories. That's largely an invention of the game, so adding a fourth category isn't a problem and I think it answers the question of where to put new ships.

tl;dr

Cliff's Notes: What's in a name? Cruiser, escort, science vessel, explorer. The canonical Starfleet used those terms interchangeably.

Yeah my thoughts exactly..
Its a 'wish' list, not a confirmed release schedule.

There are a lot of "possible'' listed there..a wish list will not stem the tide of falling numbers in game...

Parts of the old wishlist were released or on Tribble.

Pessimist [pes-uh-mist] - noun
1) a person who habitually sees or anticipates the worst or is disposed to be gloomy.
2) an STO optimist applying a bit of Vulcan logic

I've been griping about not having a more diplomatic experience. I can live with this proposal... at lease at the onset of the new diplomatic system. I am a scientist and I would like to see more exploration and more diplomatic missions. Thanks Cryptic for listening and giving the fans more of what Star Trek is supposed to be.

Is all this going to come quick enough that is what I'm wondering? Good though.

I still want to capture prisoners and not kill all the time

I want to board plus capture vessels and stop destroying them all the time its senseless destruction

I want to help the enemy when they are down but capture them, just not shoot them while they lay on the floor I can't remember that very much in Startrek, maybe the original series

Enemys to flee, they wouldnt all stick around to get destroyed so they should just warp and we still get points as it is a won battle.

Diplomacy will take this game closure to being "Startrek", more systems like that and in a few month maybe I would even pay double per month. However I want a lot more, I want Startrek not a war space simulator like we have now

I think the game is starting to move closer to this. They already have in place the mechanic that allows us to "tag" certain items or persons for transport. All that should be done is to add this option in for all NPCs, once they have been rendered prone / unconscious/ immobilized. Since they are actually not being defeated, instead of getting the XP for the kill, you would get the same amount of Star Fleet Merits.

This would help to slow down xp (we level fast anyway), it would grant more SF Merits (whioch are more useful at end game) and it would be more inline with Star Trek canon. Even Klingons understood the value of taking prisoners over killing their enemy (especially Federation enemies).

These ideas if implemented are nothing but WIN for all parties concerned.
