Currently, when you have a ground mission you have to fly towards a planet a while n beam down, ide like to propose a small change that might have a more "star trek feel" namely, when entering a system that contains a planet where you'll be beaming down to, have us warp in above the planet and closer towards it, many people who watch this forum know the series, and in your own experience isnt this the view you get if they approach a planet in the series ?
Roleplayers might like this even more because then you get the feeling like your in "standard orbit" above a planet, instead of facing it directly.
the above planet views are mostly in TOS. In TNG and after, the views are normally pretty much at the equator with the planet off to the side of the screen. But I do agree that we should have to establish an orbit before we can beam down...
It's basically two 'flavour' or quality-of-life animations that we would like to see, which would be lifted from 'Star Trek: 25th Anniversary' (and 'Judgment Rites') and 'Star Trek: The Next Generation - A Final Unity':
-'standard orbit' (or 'standard orbital approach')
-assemble Away Team in the transporter room (instead of the current pop-up box asking about Away Team selection), with a beam-out animation
