Greatest pirate movies of all time..

water based:
Cutthroat Island: Gina Davis, Frank Langella <when Frank does BAD, he does BAD GOOD!> ((Gina Davis got a lot of criticisim of over acting about her portrayal of the female lead in this movie. The critics are dead wrong. her portrayal is historically accurate. It may be an over to top pirate movie but it is also an excellent "slice of Life" into the lives of pirates and seamen in the 16th and 17th century. Her portrayel of a pirate captain of the era is spot on from all historical accounts.. vastly under-rated!)

Space:
Ice Pirates: Robert Urick and a bit of an all star caste for the period. (grab your beer, cheesy poofs and soda, or other favorite indulgence and enjoy this outrageous over the top space opera! some wonderfull low comedy, but the FX and other special effects aren't to bad at all for a low budget fun flic. post star wars)

Unfortunately, I have seen Ice Pirates. [shudder]

The Pirate Movie is a horrible, comedic *******ization of the Pirates of Penzance.

Spare yourself the torture, and see the movie version of Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline, Rex Smith, Angela Lansbury and Linda Rondstadt. It's a joy from start to finish.

I saw them both. Ice Pirates in the theater when it first came out.

The horror... the horror...
