Oh - besides Mask Energy Signature of course. I wouldn't use either anyway in my BoP but I do like to see useful skill alternatives for other people.
My two cents - make the boarding party able to beam over instantly (if their shields are down for transporter use).
Wouldn't canon dictate that you would have to temporarily disable your shields as well while beaming your guys over?
Still, I like your idea, in the shows people seldom used shuttles to board. Borg used to always beam directly on Picard's bridge. The Klingons beamed directly to OPS in DS9. etc. etc.
My current use for BP:
1. Find enemy warbird
2. Close to weapons range with warbird
3. Release boarding shuttles!
4. Jam warbird's sensors
5. Grab popcorn and watch the target practice
6. Threaten your remaining crew what will happen if they displease you again
Very true. I guess for my idea to work they'd have to make the skill worth dropping your shields which might end up being called overpowered (cloak, anyone?). I still like the idea though
I like yours better than the current implementation. Even if they say "people have discovered a way to bypass shields while transporting" and just ignored that requirement, it's still far more believable than self replicating crewmen + your ship hangar having infinite shuttles.
If they intend to stick with the current implementation, at least give captains the ability to customize their shuttles to have better shielding or faster engines to help them successfully board ships better.
we have fights where my teammates will kill a target i try to boarding party to, the goal for them is to kill the target before they get boarded.
IMO the skill is fun, easy to counter and easy to combo up to make sure it works.
Not a game breaker but can be fun to use.
I think the shuttles move a bit too slow and don't have a small amount of shields/health to aid them. I mean they are shuttles, not tricobalts. Something to let them survive a single beam array or stray splash damage of a torpedo.
And while I can get how you cannot transport on someone's ship without their shields down or severely weaken, why can't we beam the shuttles a bit away from the cruiser. At the very least it keeps them from receiving splash damage from torpedo hits and makes the opponent have to pay attention for pods coming from alternate directions.
