Hi all,

Target all Probes first, confuse Spheres so they actually tractor the probes (lol).

My PUG group of 2 Tactical , 2 Eng , 1 Sci made it on the 2nd try. Basically what we did was to split up the group into 1 Tac/1 Eng for one gate and 1 Eng/1 Sci for the 2nd gate while me, the last Tac stayed near the portal to stop any probes left.

Try to take down the gates as quickly as possible because the spawn happens much quicker the longer you take. My team were still killing previous sphere spawns when another wave came in.

I used Emergency Power to Shields 1 and Reverse Shield Polarity for those extra seconds of life to kill probes. Doesn't matter if I died as long as no probes went through. Managed to destroy both gates at 3/6.

My group consisted of 2 sci, 2 tac, and one engineer.

First we cleared out everything already there, including the Tactical Cube. We didnt pull it to the gate or anything to do initial damage, didnt know about it, but it sounds like a helpful idea for future runs.

We then split up into 2 teams, 1 sci and 1 tac on one gate, and the rest on the other. Before the gate droped, we put Tricobalt mines right where everything spawns. When the gate shields drop, the escorts dpsed it, while the science vessels used Tyken's Rift on the Probes to slow them down, lower their shield power and engines, the Tricobalt mines did significant damage to them, and the Sci also used Scramble Sensors on the Spheres, then tried to dps the transwarp gate if there was time. After the shield went up, it was simple cleanup, starting with the Probes. There were a few deaths, but that part of the mission was easy.

The next section is simple, just dps the borg vessels. Then the ground part... its really simple to begin with, just a huge amount of high level borg to deal with... its easy to get overwhelmed here. Eventually you get to a vast area with a teleportation device that brings you to an *almost* empty room. In the center of the room is a clickable device that will drop shields in the previous huge room. You need to keep one person here to control which shields to drop, and the other four will have to take out the device in the shield once it drops. The time is pretty fast, so make good use of exposes for this part.

Unfortunatly, this is as far as we got before one of our group mates dropped out.

As a warning to others, in case you dont know, do not try to pick up new people in the middle of a mission. We attemped to, but he was forced to start at the beginning of the part we were on, so when we beamed out and back in, we lost all progress on part 2 of the mission (and called it quit for the day out of annoyance).

Its late, so hopefully all that was coherent

This is where we got stuck at. We killed the first device (Alpha One) but couldn't kill any of the other 5 devices.

This is a great thread. I've been using many of the great tips to do this mission. Thanks for adding. If my group comes up with anything new we'll be sure to post it.

well 15 mins almost up.. Once more into the breach!

Guys - here is a tactic that worked first time, and no probes got to the gate in the centre.

Kill initial group of borg in the middle - except leave 1 probe alive.
Once that probe is killed the timer will start and the gates shields will drop, you want to be in position when that happens. Once this probe dies and the shields drop start a stopwatch - this will be very useful.

Two teams as follows:
3 ships by the left hand gate, 2 ships by the right hand one. Doesn't really matter about the make up of these groups, but you will want to try and keep the highest DPS (ie escorts) in the left team.

The brief of each team is as follows:
The left hand team will fire on the gate when its shields drop, to try and to as much damage as they can before the shields raise. Once the shields raise they will destroy all the borg that came out, starting with the probes and then taking out the spheres. (When you are taking out the probes it would be useful to use the following skills to keep the spheres off you/keep you alive - albeit for a while: Scramble Sensors, Jam sensors, RSP and other defensive buffs) Once all the borg are dead on this side, one or two escorts can full impulse over to the other side to help the other team.

The right hand team will not be firing on the gate (yet). As there is only two of them they will need to target the borg that come out immediately. Again as above, probes first, with buffs to confuse spheres and keep you protected from them. You should be able to kill everything without too much trouble, and the escorts that come to help will clear anyting that is still left.

Now here is the trick.

The whole event is on a 3 minute timer, so the shields will drop and reinforcement borg will come through after three minuts have passed. That is where the stopwatch comes in handy so that everyone is back in position (left team especially facing the gate with all offensive buffs (attack patterns, power to weapons, HY torp etc etc) ready to unload on the gate.

Rinse and repeat this tactic until the left gate is dead. This should take between 4 and 5 cycles (3 if your dPS team on the left are uber-leet )

Now once that is done, some cubes will arrive in the next group. Everyone should group up by the right hand gate, and take out ONE of the cubes, but not the second. One of the group (probably low DPS sci or cruiser) should get aggro off the remaining cube (by being the only person shooting at it) and then drag it well away from the gate so that it doesn't bother the other members of the team. (If you kill both cubes they will just respawn and this makes things alot more tricky)

Basically the method for taking down the right hand gate is the same as the first, when the 3minutes is nearly up everyone in postition and get ready to fire on it. Once the shield is back up target probes then spheres, rinse and repeat.
The gate should go down faster as you will have 4 people firing on it rather than 3, then go and kill the last cube... and job done

Much love out to @Bobkyou for coming up with these tactics whilst testing on tribble, and enabling our squad to be one of the first to complete

This sounds DEAD ON. The 3 min timer is a great addition. Great post. Right now the server is down but I look forward to trying this out when the servers go back up..

Thanks for the update and great post.

I was wondering how long the timer was. Thanks a ton!

Just one off topic thought....

Since we all experience death very frequently throughout any STF mission I just wander what Death Penalty will look like in the very near future and what effect it will have on these kind of missions.

Back on topic...

We tried the hints and tips in this and other topics yesterday night and they do seem to work. However we did not get past the first space combat. So my remarks concern this first part of the mission only.

- We cleared the first (central gate) Borg group whithout any problems. While doing this we happen (not intentionaly) to pull one off the remaining cubes (the tactical one) to the left gate where it explode at the same time the shields dropped and the first wave of Spheres and Probes appeared killing all but one Sphere and doing about 50% damage to the gate. So we finished of that Sphere and had plenty of time to go to the aid of our 2 teammates at the other gate.
- I now ask myself if it is possible to split the cubes each to one gate or will they persist and stay together?

We lost one teammate during this fight... *one minute silence*... I dont know if he got scared or just crashed.
So with only 4 left we did not manage to stop Probes getting to the center gate and failed the mission. We did survive for a couple of waves sticking to the agreed tactics.

My observations

Cubes
- I am not sure but it seems to me that when a cube starts rotating (on its axis) if you rotate with it so you keep facing the same cube side all the time, it takes more damage and dies faster. I tried it severall times now and saw this happen.

Spheres
- with each wave at some point you get more Spheres in a wave. So try to keep the waves to a minimum.

The 15 minute timer
- To force a reset of the wait-for-next-run 15 minute timer warp out at the end of the (failed) mission, everyone leaves the team EXCEPT FOR THE TEAMLEADER... he/she then invites everone to join the team again. The mission should now be ready for a next run.

None if you do not have the option turned on.
