Guys, in actuality, "The Wrath of Khan" proved that ships move in the Z-Axis--that means up and down WITHOUT tilting at all. If you recall, the way Kirk beat Khan is from Spock pointing out that his thinking was 2-dimensional, so Kirk had the Enterprise move along the Z-Axis...and that's how he got behind the Reliant and blew it to bits.
