The more I play this mission the more I see nothing changing. As it stands not enough people know what to do when in combat with the Crystal Entity. So I created a thread hoping people will come across it.

These are a number of points I've found paramount to success.
1. Do not attack any fragments, as they regenerate the Entity. This is rule one.
2. Focus all fire on the entity and never attack fragments.
3. Increase Engine power to 80/100 thus outrunning the fragments and having no need to attack them.
4. (Theory) It seems that torpedoes limit the number of shards created, so I recommend using them only.
5. When the being is at 30 percent, large fragments appear. These must be left alone. If they must be engaged use beam weapons ONLY, torpedoes break them into Small shards which immediately return to the entity and destroy any progress made.

I have created this thread hoping people will see it and be educated, and also with the purpose of social networking. I hope to be able to pick a date and time when enough people who know what they are doing can engage the entity in whatever instance they are placed in. Even divided. If enough people could use this information and be online at the same time, we have to win some how. Updates will continue as I get them.

We need to make groups in the Community section of this page.

See my replies / Additions below.

1. Do not attack any fragments, as they regenerate the Entity. This is rule one.
This is not entirely true. Only the ones labled "Large Fragment" spawn small crystals that in turn return to the large entity and heal it about 1% pr fragment, if they are not shot down ASAP. Also doing a clean kill on theese Large Fragments, is without punishment, they only spawn new fragments, if they hit a ship or mine, not if they are killed.
Attacking/Destroying regular fragments is of no consequense... they dont even count toward the final score, so in terms of points, there is no reason to shoot them down.

2. Focus all fire on the entity and never attack fragments.
Yes... Fireing on the entity will kill it. Refering to my above statement.

3. Increase Engine power to 80/100 thus outrunning the fragments and having no need to attack them.
This only works if you can circle the thing. Not all have the luxory of being able to circle the entity however, as most Escorts are equipped with cannons, hence forcing them to more or less head on for the main entity. So this is only partially effective as the escorts need to move inbetween the fragments, and thereby not always being able to outrun fragments. An option here is that one escort attacks the entity, while another takes care of incoming fragments.

4. (Theory) It seems that torpedoes limit the number of shards created, so I recommend using them only.
Actually you're quite correct. I had the pleasure of being 1o1 with the entity a few weeks ago, and the actual mechanic is: The more Hits it takes, the more it spawns. So hitting the entity with a Torpedo (wich is a one hit high damage weapon) will naturally spawn less fragments than Energy weapons (that are Damage Pr Second). Cannons and turrets however will not spawn as many as they are pulsing weapons, rather than constant impact (wich is produced by beam weapons).

5. When the being is at 30 percent, large fragments appear. These must be left alone. If they must be engaged use beam weapons ONLY, torpedoes break them into Small shards which immediately return to the entity and destroy any progress made.
I have noticed that it appears to be more 33% rather than 30%. The 30% however is the point where ANYONE with scramble sensors, should be real close to the entity and activate it. This will keep the Large fragments from targeting anyone, and they will just float around in space like a drunken Turkey. The part about the torpedoes is not true. I just went in to check, and still: Large Fragments only spawn small healing ones, if they impact a ship, Tricobalt Device or mine. Beam weapons, Turrets, cannons or torpedoes make no diffrence.

6: Do not allow anyone to use mines at this point... If large fragments are impacting with the mines they will spawn Small fragments...

So basically what I am saying is that you're mostly right, but you have a few minor details wrong. Nothing big thoug.

Me and my fleet spend a few times just sitting in space and observing what happens during battle, so I am certain that what I am sayingis indeed fact.
Since we got all theese issues right, we have beaten the thing 4 times in a row.

BTW: If anyone has more bonuesses, i think we should "Quote" the last one, with corrections? Yes?.. No?
