# 1 Looking for a fleet
04-22-2010, 01:01 PM
I've been playing STO for about a month now, and thus far have been enjoying it.

I started with an Engineer, got to Lt. Cmdr 4 and then started a Science Officer, who is now Lt. Cmdr 2. I have grouped once or twice (not couting the auto-group when doing Patrol Missions). But thus far, I have to say I have not seen a whole lot that requires grouping.

I am a mature MMO vetern, having played Wow, EVE, Lotro, ****, PotBS and others. I have led my own guild, and been an officer in another. I always support the team when I can. I loved my roles in leadership, but find now, with other real life commitments, that I want to just log on and play.

That being said, I have a busy life outside of gaming, and may at times have several days where I can't or don't feel like going on. I want this to stay a game for me and not a job.

I am in the EST time zone, and when I'm home and can play, it's usually between 7:00pm and 11:00pm.

If you think I might be a good fit for your Fleet, please post here or PM me. I check the forums a couple of times a day (usually :p)

Cheers!

You will find grouping helpful in two main ways
  • while you don't have to be in a group for the raidisodes (STF) you'll not be able to do them solo. Obviously you can always PUG it, but fighting alongside the same people time and time again builds not only a bond, but lets you act more as a team instead of five individuals
  • doing the FA like BigDig or CE with whomever is in there will be challenging, if not impossible. Again, teaming with fleetmates makes all those types of actions more fun, and doable

Greetings,

Well, I do agree that fleets in STO isn't as necessary day-to-day as the fleets and alliances of EvE or the like, but it does make things (aka The Game) better, IMO. We here at The Shadows aren't a hardcore fleet, we ask only for a high level of maturity and respect amongst our members. We allow our members to play whatever aspects they choose too, we just are here to support them. We do have organized STF runs a few nights a week at around 9 EST, so that fits just about right for your playtime, once you get to that rank. Of course, often members just group on their own too, so it's all good.

If you'd like to read more about what we have to offer, please visit our website http://www.shadows-sto.com and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Wish you all the best in your STO voyage

I can certainly understand having a life outside of gaming and so fan the folks at the 1-8-7. It's not necessary to play every day or even six days a week but we do like members to be somewhat active. There are times we might miss playing due to vacations, extended work schedules, etc, and for those times we even have a "leave of absence" thread so you do not get mistaken for someone who has been assimilated by the Borg. Although you have not experienced a need for teaming yet, once you get to RA5 you'll need team mates for the STFs. That's where we come in. Fleet 187 has a website and forum, we use vent and have weekly meetings and events. We welcome players from every play style and encourage every member to play the way they like to play. Stop by the site, visit the forums and check us out on vent (the info is at the bottom of the forum). I think you'll be glad you did.

Good afternoon. We are actively recruiting for like-minded individuals who crave the positive aspects of collaborative gameplay. We have a Ventrilo server in place but do not require you to use it if you don't want to. Our members are world-wide, and you will always have a Fleet member available somewhere for support and group efforts. In group work, our Fleet coordination strives to be unparalleled, and we will decimate our enemies with dispatch. We will explore and discover everything STO has to offer, and share our findings with our Fleet members so all are enriched.

I am sure you are looking for a fleet to join that will no doubt be a fleet of activity, dedication and a certain degree of maturity. Within the [VKF], you will find all of those things and so much more. Our fleet becomes more and more co-ordinate with each passing day. You can guarantee that this fleet will go far in the STO universe and you would be wise to join us for a fun and active environment. Be it PvE you are interested in or even PvP, we will have what best suits you.

Although I say our fleet is dedicated, it also realizes that everyone has lives as well so therefore when you need to take the time, you don't need to be concerned about your position within the fleet being lost. We do not discriminate against such things because we understand ourselves that sometimes real life can become interfere and some time is needed to sort it out again.

Not only would VKF be a stable fleet to join, it would be one that would give you an experience you will never soon forget or wish to be parted from. You will find yourself pleased you joined our fleet.

Part of our Fleet's activities is to plow through the mass of information on this forum, released by Cryptic, and available elsewhere. We cull the important information to create tight and informative game guide info and tips for each profession.

It can take you many hours to go through everything on STO, trying to extract fact from conjecture. Let our forum at http://www.vulcankolinahrfleet.com help you zero in on exactly what you need to advance quickly in STO. Of course, you must be a Fleet member to see this!

Live long and prosper!

Hello Rizzen:
I'd like to inform you about our fleet, the Hammerfist Clan.

We cater to the mature player. Players who have time restraints, family, spouses, full time jobs. Players who know what it's like to have bills and mortgages to pay. We know real life commitments are a priority with older more mature gamers, and thus we'll never overload you with requirements, and expect you to jump through a bunch of silly hoops just to get a few hours of gaming in with your friends.

(just to clarify, by "Mature" we don't necesarily mean "old", our fleet members vary in age from the 20's up to 60's. I'm 30. Most of the people I hang out with in the game are circa my age.)

We have players in USA Time Zones and European Time Zones. Since you are EST, I think you will find someone from the fleet present at the times you play. We have a ventrilo server (but it's not mandatory to use it).

Our clan is also active in other games like LOTR, FFXIV, SWTOR. Please checkout our website to see more info about us.

Hi Rizzenlc

The Sentinels are a multi-gaming community with an average age of 30+ and no drama!

We have an active membership in several different MMO's and are building our Starfleet Division here in STO. At this point we have about 50 to 60 active members in our fleet and are steadily growing. The overall guild has over 500 active members and we also maintain our own guild Ventrilo server (although you don't have to use it, we do have some good discussions and lively chat on there). We look for quality over quantity, and have a very thorough application process. Its our goal to make sure you are as happy with us as we will be with you.

Our retention rate is very high as we promote more of a gaming community then a single game guild.

Feel free to check out our recruitment thread at http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=94701 or just follow the links in my signature to learn more about us.
