# 1 A fix for Security Escort?
04-25-2010, 12:35 PM
These guys are cowards. I was literally surrounded by Borg on an Exploration mission, hit Security Escort, just to watch them beam in, take a look around then beam back out. It was as if they were either blind and did not see the mob I was surrounded by, or they seen the mob and said, "To hell with this, looks like work to me..." and then beamed out. Wow, great help that was.

Is there a fix for this any time soon? Extremely annoying.

The Security Escort will not stick around for very long if you are not in actual combat, a Red Alert status. IF you are in combat, the Red Alert status active, they will stay until either they are dead OR the Red Alert status is deactivated.

I've only had the ability for a little while, but never had an issue with it. I like having my very own redshirts to beam in and die for me.

Yep. They're not permanent additional BOs. They're just temporary in-combat help.

Did I throw out a n00b alert somewhere in my statement? I know all of this. Did I not say that I was "literally surrounded" by Borg?

Sure you did but I've never had that bug so there's no way of knowing if it was a singular random fluke or something which happens all the time, and I use SE quite a bit one my 2 Captains and 2 Admirals.

Happened to me around 5 times that I can remember. Anytime I am in a tight hallway, IE the hallways inside the Memory Alpha Maps, they seem to bug out in those. For some reason they do not act the same way in a hallway that they do in an open area. I had at least 5 Borg in the hallway with me, hit Escort and they did not even take notice to the Borg. Now mind you, I can not replicate this on command, it's one of those things that just happen.

Report it as a bug. I've never once had a problem with Security Escort. In fact, I was doing The Cure with 2 other Tacs once, and we all summoned 2, hit Tactical Initiative, and summoned 2 more. So we had our group of 5 and 12 Security Escorts. It was nuts.

I would guess that it might have something to do with the amount of hours I put into this game. I honestly have no life these days and have put in enough hours to cover a lifetime of play. So it's possible I am more likely to experience this do to the fact I have so much time invested in to STO. Who knows. Wish I had FRAPS running when it happened, would have been nice to have proof to back up my claim.

It's all in the fine print of the Red Shirt workers union 4039 contract with Satr Fleet.

The were founded by the Teamsters, some real tough negotiators.
