the KDF should have an off-duty costume option as well and have the orion bikini armor in it so orion characters can look like the NPCs

Yes is it absurd that Gorn PC do not get to dress like Gorn NPC... Orion PCs do not get to dress like Orion NPC... etc etc...

THE ART IS ALREADY IN THE **** GAME! Why do we not have access to it?

The artwork is there but Players have a much wider range of movement and effects that can happen to them. The outfits you see are not designed for anything more than an NPC standing in one spot or walking at a leisurely pace down the hall. To add these costumes as a player option, Cryptic will have to redesign them.

Not saying they shouldn't-- and I hope they get around to it soon. But its not as easy as clicking an option on the server and "allowing" them for player use. There's a lot more behind it.

Well, the clothing options for Klingon Faction are very limited and it would certainly be good to add more, especially those for the other races.

This.

We went through the same thing over on City of Heroes/Villains trying to get the open skirts that Fortunata NPCs had for the PC versions when they became available. People kept saying the same things that people are saying here and didn't look at it from a programming perspective. We got them eventually, and there was much rejoicing, but it wasn't a trivial matter.

For instance, one some of the Klingon female models you can finally take off the armored collars. Take a good hard look where the neck meets the body, especially on a character with some kind of pattern to her skin. This is an artifact of the way STO does its clothing: torsos can handle skin colors but not skin textures, and this is why we won't be seeing swimwear or Trills in Orion costumes any time soon: they would have to re-work the body models.

Yep, the seams indicate that the body/clothing ratio is simply a texture issue. There's no reason why the current models wouldn't work with the animations/races/whatever but there will be some seam issues. Then again who'd care about those? Have you guys even seen some of the Federation ships out there? They look horrible but are in the game, so why not give PCs NPC clothes? I don't know either...

Not convinced that is true. Look *closely* at the female Orion models... the neck seams are hidden by thin items not honking great bandannas.

The truth is compared to the other things they are working on, this is not that complex. The *existing* outfits clip, so I am all for getting a variety of clipping outfits.
