So I tested this out a few times on npcs and noticed it didnít do anything now. I guess its suppose to randomly shut down one sub system at a time, besides shields, for a total of 8 seconds. Thats 2 seconds each for the remaining sub systems. So its pretty much useless now.

It's probably true. What do you want us to say?

VM,SNB, and FBP ate of the fruit of the forbidden tree of making noobs cry. for that all of science must suffer for their sins.

unfortunately SNB the forbidden fruit only made snb stronger, whilst it poisoned vm and tainted fbp.

Ive been hit by VM more times than i can count and annoying as it is there are/were counters (skill, tactics, w/e) avail to circumvent or defeat this If you were properly skilled and prepared. i did not see a need to nerf it. it was challenging to overcome and now ... well whan can i say other than im not going to waste skilling up in it now thats its nerfed. Unless im mistaken and its still worth it? Any other opinions?

Oh and faithborn, Damn fine work on the guides. Infact giving credit where credit is due i would not have learned about the counters i use had it not been for your guides. With permission i would like to add links to your lifelines on my sig.

It's doesn't have the Game Over potential that the old VM had, for sure.

However, it is now moderately effective against escorts, whereas it was almost useless before (APO no longer removes or counters VM in any way). VM is significantly less useful against cruisers and science ships than it previously was.

This is my take on it.

VM, It was nasty, but it had a counter ability. I am generally against lock out abilities, makes the game less interesting when you can't play it. The new version sounds like a 1/3 lock out. Which I suppose negates my complaint about Lock outs. Still can be countered, with Engineering team.

Feedback Pulse. I liked the old one, very nasty. Though their was no simple way of defeating it, and once you start firing at them your going to fire at least 4 time/beam which let me tell you from my cruiser equates to death. If I had a 'Cease Fire' button, I would have been ok with the way it was. Though the update makes less rough and more supplemental. it seems better matched for it's goal now.

SNB, In its first incarnation it was a lock out with out a counter. I hated it. It's new incarnation? Counters every buff and increases cool downs? hmm yea, may have just got better. Though I am pleased that it can be countered with Sci Team now and it's not a lock out.

Viral Matrix
Goal: Cripples target, but target has the chance to remove debuff or continue to fight at a disadvantage.

Changes:

* This is no longer a hold, but instead takes three of a ship's subsystems offline.
* Shields subsystems are unaffected, but weapons, engines, and auxiliary will go offline in a random order (each time it is used) over the course of the duration. As the systems go offline in a staggered method, the target has some time to react and does not have all three systems disabled for the entire duration.
* The best case duration for a subsystem being offline is approx 7.2, 9.6, and 12 seconds for ver 1, 2, and 3 respectively.
(MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT EACH SUBSYSTEM WILL BE TAKEN OFFLINE, Except Shields, FOR THE APPROX. DURATION EACH)

Countered By: Engineering Team now restores all subsystems; Emergency Power to (system) will restore that particular subsystem.

First time I got nailed (At captain lvl) with Subnucleonic Beam in my cruiser... I sat there as ship after ship directed every weapon at me. Pummeling away on my shields and hull as I limped slowly away at quarter speed due to a horribly inconveniant tractor beam. I kept pounding on my spacebar hoping that it was all just a horrible glitch and my weapons would come online any moment... to no avail. After the duration ran out and I had no shields and my hull was at a shattering 12% I nailed engineering team, hazard emitters, aux to structural integrity field and rotate shields. I climbed all the way back up to 80% hull and about 1/2 my shields when...

*Sigh*

Got nailed with another Subnucleonic Beam.

That skill is pretty much a kill-switch to any one opponent in PvP. That is to say that I wasn't happy with the results of that particular instance, but we still won that battle in the end. LOL So whatever, overpowered or not it's not like there is no way to survive it. Hell, if you have a decent team, someone will buff/heal you enough to pretty much make it a minor inconveniance anyway.

Yep, there is no doubt that those science abilities were overpowered. However, us science captains just got hit with a nerf nuke. Not the nerf bat, but something far more potent. I've never seen such a one-sided nerf in a single patch before. Where is my free respec so I can untrain sensor probes and go with something that hasn't been nerfed out of existance yet. I use to be able to VM for over 40 seconds. Yes, overpowered, I know. But now it only lasts for about 13 seconds, and is no where near as potent. I was playing on Elite earlier today, and I found the ability useless.
