A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
Yep, there is no doubt that those science abilities were overpowered. However, us science captains just got hit with a nerf nuke. Not the nerf bat, but something far more potent. I've never seen such a one-sided nerf in a single patch before. Where is my free respec so I can untrain sensor probes and go with something that hasn't been nerfed out of existance yet. I use to be able to VM for over 40 seconds. Yes, overpowered, I know. But now it only lasts for about 13 seconds, and is no where near as potent. I was playing on Elite earlier today, and I found the ability useless.
Science Officer here, and so far I'm okay-ish about the changes. I have to really think where and when I'm going to use SNB. VM is fun to use against Escorts. FBP..I'm still not too sure about this. Photonic Officer has been killed, so I've swtiched over to Energy Siphon and Sci.Team III
My playstyle has definetly changed, and from what I can tell, my damage has dropped, but I'm going to give it a few more days of playing around before I don my doom and gloom cloak
So I tested this out a few times on npcs and noticed it didn’t do anything now. I guess its suppose to randomly shut down one sub system at a time, besides shields, for a total of 8 seconds. Thats 2 seconds each for the remaining sub systems. So its pretty much useless now.
Re-read the patch notes. Your math is off. It does not affect one particular subsystem at all.
Feedback Pulse is affected by your science officer buffs. Like your sensor scan. It can be buffed to do more than 100% damage. And it affects canons. FBP's still got teeth.
Nope. ETeam only counters the currently active subsystem failure. So if you get VM'd, and it drops your Aux systems and you ETeam it ... you get your Aux back. Then it pulses again and affects your weapons. Whoops. ETeam's now on cooldown. And the counter you used to counter your viral matrix can no longer counter your viral matrix problem.
It's not a counter at all. I'd save your ETeam for when you need it. VM might be weaker in its overall effect, but it no longer can be countered effectively by anything.
Yeah, I'm finding Viral Matrix to be somewhat useful on Normal difficulty, not so good on Advanced, and non-existent on Elite. I do think Feedback Pulse is viable at Rank III so I think I'll replace VM with that and see how it goes.
If you can tyken some thing an Escort guy is hitting is effective although this is difficult as Escort guys tend to target and move about randomly, the only know way to get a tac to target something you want is to use the following in chat
"OMG (insert Escort guy's name) Dude, (insert name of target) said he's like rly pwning ur @ss and ur a cry more Noob"
The Tac guy will then attack this target or one who's name starts with same letter
There is a bit of a lag with fbp and even on full aux , this means a good build escort can still kill you in a few seconds before the feedback has really kicked in enough to do him any real damage
This was by far the most annoying move in the game. How overpowered could you get? Shut down the entire ship for what felt like 10 minutes. And EVERY Romulan NPC would throw it at me. I mean, it sucks that it's not as good to use now, but at least it's worse to be used against you, if that makes sense.
