# 1 The new SNB and Extend Shields

So the new SNB strips a target of it's current buffs.

With that mechanic, who do we have to target to get rid of Extend Shields? The person using it, or the person receiving it?

Neither works. ES is a channeled buff, effectively a 1-second buff that gets reapplied every second. SNBing the source ship does nothing, and SNBing the recipient removes it for one second or so before the next refresh.

Hazard Emitters, which is intuitively similar, is actually quite different mechanically. HE is a single buff, pure and simple. It gets stripped if you SNB the guy that the buff is on.

VM might be a better solution for Extend Shields. It relies on shield power, if you can shutdown the giver's shield power or drastically drop the power level (target Shield Sub System), Extend Shields becomes almost useless.

Dang. RSP and ES stripping were the two big features of the new SNB I was looking for.

vm doesn't touch shield power.

ES chaining can be disrupted by any interupt that disables the ship for at least 1 second. photonic shockwave is absolutely amazing at smashing a chain because it stuns ALOT of people within the 5km chains.

A tricobalt torpedo carefully fired at point blank, at the source ship, is also useful, for those of us that can't equip any version of photonic shockwave. It causes a two second stun to all damaged targets, which is plenty enough.

(I also have a hypothesis that some people actually use regenerative shields, at least judging from the way that occasionally I've instagibbed ships like escorts with attack pattern beta on them, purely as an accident, eventhough they had RSP on, simply by dropping a tricobalt torpedo into a facing that was weakened prior to RSP(Which is difficult to experiment for further results, because the situations where I would like to waste a tricobalt cooldown AND I'm close to an enemy, are few and far between))

Photonic Shockwave against the ship casting ES will disrupt it?

photonic shockwave disrupts and knocks back anyone in a radius around you. theoretically(i say this because ive neither tried it nor seen it in action) his statement is sound.

Interesting..after searching and reading everything I could, all the information I found pointed to photonic shockwave being a subpar skill at best. Is it better now?

Photonic shockwave does indeed interrupt Extend Shields, just like a tricobalt torp does. So long as it actually hits the source vessel.

Try it for yourself. It's also useful as a generic stun if a fight is getting really crowded and theres 1319245 enemies around your team.
