# 1 Sto, And Star Trek Are Over.
05-01-2010, 05:05 PM
You heard me right. STO, and Star Trek are coming to end. the end is near, and we can all thank Steven Hawking for it.

Now you are wondering why I am saying this. well this all comes from news that broke out about a week ago.
( i know it's late so to bad. )
The title is "Don't talk to aliens", one of the names of the many articles on this topic. In the report it states that Stephen Hawking believes that aliens do exist in this universe.

"The universe, he points out, has 100 billion galaxies, each containing hundreds of millions of stars. In such a big place, Earth is unlikely to be the only planet where life has evolved"

he goes on to state that most of the life will be microbes, to small animals. But some of the life mite be intelligent, and instead of reaching out, we should hide, and fear them.

“We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet. I imagine they might exist in massive ships, having used up all the resources from their home planet. Such advanced aliens would perhaps become nomads, looking to conquer and colonize whatever planets they can reach.”

"It would be to big of a risk" he goes on to say, but you are wondering. "well what does this have to do with star trek?"

well you see, I ( unlike hawking ) Had hopes for the future. someday, if we don't kill ourselves, we could be out in the stars, just like the television show we all love. Now were going to be scared to contact other life. Instead of seeking out new life, and new civilizations. we will be building defenses, and hiding in our part of the galaxy.

But do you blame them. this is Steven Hawking we are talking about. he is one of the most intelligent minds of our time. if he says we are in danger, he must be right. right?

it just saddens me to think that instead of

THIS

we will get

THIS.

On the other hand, Hawking, who is a star trek fan, could just be mad because Miguel Alcubierre beat him to the theory that makes warp drives work. As to why hawking would come out now instead of when it theory came out is beyond me.

Well I hope you enjoyed this news article, and if you posted about me being a DOOM POSTER, that just means that you did not read and you are one of these.

To read more CHECK OUT THIS PAGE, or Google search "Hawking alien life"

And don't forget to check out Stephen Hawking's Universe May 9th on the discovery channel

( all views written here are for comedy, I am really not worried about first contact or anything of the sort, thanks for reading zodi )

Well on the flipside, the aliens in Pellegrino's The Killing Star decide to preemptively wipe out humanity at least in part because of star trek.

Star Trek: The Next Generation - The aliens used footage of a borg cube exploding in the ST:TNG episode "Best of Both Worlds, Part II" as an example of our fiction reflecting a deep rooted desire to dominate all other species.

Hawking is a brilliant man but he can also be a bit of a twit at times.
For one thing, any alien race seeking to conquer would be actively looking for viable planets and would home in on the transmissions we've been blasting out since the early 20th century.
It won't mean jack if we contact them or not.

Also an alien race advanced enough to travel the stars may not be as amoral as European imperialists of the 15th century. With greater technological advancement comes greater morality - our present day societies are the most free and most moral we've ever had. It's not perfect but it's better than what came before.

If the aliens are that mean, why did nobody fire a Death Star's main battery on us yet?

Do a bit of research into the fabled Krikkit Wars and you will find some very interesting information about Xenophobia inspired space encounters.

Cheers!

By the way, it's STO. Not Sto. Sto is a planet in Doctor Who. That makes space Titanics.

I read about this when he announced it.

Personally, I think we should protect the aliens from us, not the other way around.
