This problem has just recently began happening to me. Sometimes I'm able to play for a while, otherwise it will do this when I log in to the game:

File read from disk has bad CRC.

Any suggestions? I've updated my drivers. Would a reinstall fix this?

Try deleting the bins.hogg file and let it re-patch. If it happens again there is a good chance either your HDD or RAM are failing.

Well, tried it and same problem. I just had my motherboard replaced on my laptop. *sigh*

It seems to always crash and give me the error when loading either on log in or switching to/from system/sector maps.

I used to have similar errors, but after lowering my memory from '1600' to '1066' in the bios, the problems stopped.

It seems the memory was rated a bit too high at the factory, which is annoying since I paid a little more for 12gigs of '1600' rated memory, but since the issues completely went away after that, I'll deal with it.

I had a similar error.

It started after a ground mission, crashed the game and it keeps crashing on login screen.
I looked a lot on foruns and solve it by turning off some of the video configurations.

Delete the files that are "corrupted", re-patch and turn off the "post processing" video option. Worked as a charm for me. A few days latter I re-enabled the post processing and the game didn't crash again... O_o

I have been have been having this problem too. I have deleted that file and reinstalled it server times. It cannot be going bad since I have 12gb of RAM and this computer is only 4 months old. I am running on a Verizon Wireless Air Card and it only allows me 5gb a month of download. I need an alternate solution to fixing this. Its a real pain, I cannot level up any of my characters since ever time I try and enter a system it crashes.

just because it only 4 months old still don;t eliminate faulty equipment. but another thing yu can do if you are using win7 or vista besure to have the game installed in a directory other than the program files folder.

Directory? I think its saved in Program Files ATM. How do I do a directory? Edit: Yes I am using WIn7.
