Those savings can go toward things like, you know, adding to their product to make customers happy?
Because they way it USE to work is when they made a new item for the game it went INTO the game as CONTENT.

Now these items are "SPECIAL" items that are used to turn you all into spamming advertisingshills, while at the same time paying them money for the right to be a tool.

Yes, WoW's bonus thingy for recruiting friends is a taxi to carry them around in so they can go to the fridge or take a bio-break while you pilot to wherever. It actually strikes me as extremely appropriate.

STO's 5-person bonus is a special way to pew-pew.

Yep, in other words: "We read your feedback, we don't care, we want the players who purchased multiple copies of the game for all the preorder items at launch, to go and purchase 5 more new copies and sub those accounts for the next 31 days. We do love your feedback and we have more C-Store items on the way.....I mean content!"

If I worked for Cryptic, I'd frankly shut down the message boards. These are supposed to be here for people to contribute in a positive way, and to help build a community to support each other, and the game. But all it is is a venue for the maldjusted to whine, complain, and drag the game and other players down into misery with them. It does love company after all. Now, off to enjoy my life. I'll probably check in again next week, because hope springs eternal.
I have to agree with this. I think one of the best things Cryptic could do is shut down the message boards. It's becoming apparent that the largest liability to this game's long-term success is a whiny, egotistical contingent of players that have no aversions to saying any manner of ridiculous and baseless crap about the game, almost in a dedicated attempt to shut the game down out of spite.

First... I like your avatar

Second, I think it is more logical to assume that they put it in the sub-forum C-store and promotions so that developers from that department can know that the users are talking about it.

Third- Your logic that "they don't care" is a classic knee-jerk reaction.

Well let's see.

- They didn't even consider changing their minds.
- They're going ahead as planned while multiple players are gearing up to send referrals... to themselves
- They buried all topics related to this in a subforum below a ton of other subforums

I believe this aptly shows they don't care.

That's why they'll get away with it.
Because people like this will let them.
