Well, all we saw of it in combat was one-shotting a Negh'var.

But as I said, I don't think it likely that the Galaxy-X will be imbalanced, at least not intentionally so. But it will be different, and not merely cosmetically. It will have a unique combat power, and it's being sold off instead of made available to earn in-game. They may as well start selling new consoles and BOff powers in the C-store.

The beam is intendend to be a very narrow front cylinder beam that can pass through objects and hit multiple targets if you are lined up properly (out to a set distance).

like a laser, the way he's describing it hits multiple targets is if the targets are all in a line 1 behind the other.
the only way for it to do this in game is if it a) blows up a ship with low health and keeps going to hit a second ship, or b) (adding onto his "passing thru objects (like, dare i say, sheilds)) it shoots thru the ships sheilds, blows up the ship then hits the ship behind it....

Speaking with real-life logic, kinda. Though you can poke a hole in something and hit something behind it without necessarily destroying it.

But cylinder attacks are among the first RPG mechanics as one of the basic forms of AoE, and in-game we already have (on the ground) the High Density Rifles which do damage to targets behind other targets without requiring the death of the first target.

well, yes, but if you poke a hole thru a space ship, it usually goes boom (as is canon in 99% of the space ship movies/star trek/ any other type of space ship) i've yet to see anything pass completely thru a space/star ship and it not go boom.....

Well, I hope they're not operating on your logic, because if they are the referral thing would go from incrementally compromising their integrity to genuinely annihilating game balance.

exactly, that's my point.... it shoots ship, pokes hole thru ship, ship has hole in center of ship that causes vacuum of ship causing the ship to reverse implode (ship gets sucked into itself then expelled out thru big hole in middle of ship(usually ship explodes before this happens due to mechanical and structural interigity being lost, causing ships power systems to fail and explode (think of it like a warp core breach ))

thus...boom...
like in the show....

which makes me a SSSSAAAAADDDD PANDA coz being a klingon i'm the ship that gets shot at Dx

I think that the cannon should operate like the Star fleet Battles Mauler wiping out anything in a line in front of the ship and even pulling ships out of cloak and destroying them while producing a Tyken's Rift effect along it's length!

The ship itself should continually sparkle! There's already an effect like this in game, but make it continuous and brighter!

The ship should suck power from nearby ships as well prior to firing!

It MUST have a better than Battlecloak! A "Bettercloak!!" It should be able to fire while cloaked like that BoP in one of the movies!

This ship must turn like an Escort!

I completely Agree. They should beable to make it a Extremely rare Item you may pick up Doing Really hard Elite missions. Then at Least That gives people something to Search and Strive for ingame. They could also add other special ships like this too and give all of the PvE players and PvP players more insentive to Do Explore missions.


It could tie into a Even more rare mission that could randomly pop up while doing explore missions.
