I have yet to see a thread on this topic, so i thought i would start it since this really bugs me. The spawn points for enemy encounters, and certain exploration missions of the same nature as the enemy encounters need to be change, especially with the new difficulty sliders. Its not right to zone in to an exploratation map, to be blow appart the sec you're loaded into the zone, this happens quite alot in the b'tan exploration missions and almost every time you zone in to most enemy encounters, At least in my experance. We should be able to zone in and have a chance to get prepare before dealling with these kind of fight. Also respawn point should not be right in the mist of a fight, Had this problem today while doing some b'tran explorations with some of my fleet mates, we zone into a group of borg, and were wiped out, and we all kept trying to respawn it would put us right back in the middle of that group of borg, instead of being to the side so we had a chance to regroup after the defeat. it was just a loop of die respawn die, respawn, until one of use figure out how to get away from the borg group. It was like being the the tng episode cause and effect. Sure dev if you read this can we please get the spawn points relocated.

For the Enemy Encounter Exploration mission (which is usually 5 or 6 squadrons you need to kill) ... There is usually a text box first. Before anything spawns. They spawn after you click the text box.

So ... my advice is to not immediately click through the text box. Take a moment to set your power systems the way you want them. And start flying while the text box is still on your screen. This gets you ready for the "ambush" you know is coming.

Then click the text box. They spawn, but you can jump right into the first fight.

We did not get the text box on the borg encounter, the moment we were in we were underattack.

Was it a DSE? An enemy signal contact? You do get jumped in those encounters. But they are set to normal difficulty. And give you a chance to beam out before clicking through. So they don't lock you into combat and you can escape while being fired upon.

I've not ever encountered a bug where I've been jumped in an exploration mission. I've always had no enemies. And needed to initiate the mission by clicking through the first text box at least.

I have had many bugs where even after initiating the mission through the text box ... the enemies never spawned at all.

That's a known bug. Been reported a lot. And still being worked on.

So, my advice applies only to exploration missions. Like the ones in B'Tran.

If you're getting jumped in a Deep Space Encounter ... I say either warp out ... or fight them. Get clear. And warp out.

There are exploration missions where you get a text box *while* already being targeted by the first mob. That should be changed, so the enemy is not 5 km from you and already targets you while you make the text go away. Put the enemy in 11 km range where you can see them, otherwise its really annoying.

Spawn camping enemies in DSEs are also still an issue. With a free trial weekend, I'd get on it. A new player will a) not get why he gets sucked into a DSE that is on timer (I don't get it either), b) why he instantly dies because the flag ship with several escorts sits on the spawn point... and seeing the free weekend is 'limited to the first missions' - a new player, in a Miranda, gets the mission to deliver the sample to Memory Alpha, and has a good chance to be blown to pieces on the way there by stalking Romulan DSEs +20 levels.

Since you weren't alone in there, who ever got in first clicked through the dialogue screen and started the encounter. Those things never start on their own as far as i know.

I have it happen solo too. Even more than if I'm teamed (at least DSEs). Its the "Defeat 5 mobs" space mission, where you first get "Enemy Confrontation" and technically kill 6 mobs.

No warning - attacked by first mob (usually 3 Jem'Hadar Attack Ships) - Mission status: "Enemy Confrontation"; ships already target you while you get the screen with the text. After killing them, the mission status goes to "defeat 5 squadrons".

We tried to warn people this would happen but the crowd that wanted the Death Penalty and difficulty slider shouted us down and called us names. Well, you got what you wanted, now it's time to live with the consequenses.

I offer the same advice we were given by the Pro-DP crowd. Learn to play smarter and you won't die as much.
