See, I knew this was going to happen. Some guy is going to come in here and tell me how I'm just whining and I'm not doing it right. Well let me enlighten you. I've tried almost every strategy I've come across, tried almost every tier 5 ship available, changed my BOs special abilities to match what was recommended for this mission, and I'm still met with failure. It can't just be me. Now I don't have all super-rare items and equipment like you probably do, I am also not a member of a fleet. I have a life outside of STO and can't devote that amount of time and effort to acquire that stuff. I have a pregnant wife that is due in a month or less and a 4 year old daughter. I am also a SSG in the Army. That means that I have soldiers to take care of, and a deployment to get prepared for. Congratulations on you and your team's great success with dominating this mission. I'm glad you enjoy it so much, but as for the rest of us, it sucks. To steal a line from Homer Simpson, it is the suckiest suck that ever sucked a suck.

to make it clear again: this mission is really easy and fun if you know what and how to do it

AND don't need purple items or you don't have to be in a fleet ........and when you tried almost all strategies you are definetely doing something wrong!

I really didn't want to boast with the KA time........just wanted to make clear that you don't need 3 or more hours to complete it and so you still have plenty of time for your real life.

I really wanted to help you and i still intend to help you.........I was serious when i said join me and my team and we will do the mission together! the way you can also join "just ignore him".....@cipher_nemo^^

I've tried some KA lately with my eng/escort and I notice the same problems with each of the failures. Everyone else, including the cruisers, dies first before me, when I'm in an aggro hungry, squishy escort.

The teams I'm with don't seem to be good about survivability nor helping their teammates survive. When I have to tell cruisers to go get BOs with extend shields, and then tell them how to use it, that is a real symptom of the problem.

KA is the first real STF where people have to learn to work together to survive in space. Its not critical to work as a team in Infected or Cure, you can just respawn and come at it again and again. But KA demands teamwork. If your team is dying off, then you don't kill the probes and spheres in time to get back to the gate. DPS is very important for KA, but survival is much better for DPS than continuously respawning escorts.

It is a bit of a shock I think, since nothing but PVP gives a chance to learn this, which is why its so difficult for most teams. But I honestly can't tell if its changed since it was released, its so rare to have time and get a team for it for me, not that I would argue against making it a little easier.

It must be the strategy then, because I'm following it to the letter. I don't know, but I'm tired of this argument. Eventually I may take you up on your offer, but I simply don't have the time right now. Let me make one thing clear. I enjoy a challenge as much as the next person and I'm not asking for this victory to be handed to me, but I really think that the borg should be toned down a bit, just a little bit. If it's me then I have no problem admitting that fact, but it just doesn't add up. There is no f-ing reason why I can kill a borg cube, the same type of ship that opened a can of whoopass at Wolf 359, by myself, and not be able to do the same with a measly sphere. I'm not asking for the borg to have their teeth removed because they should be harder than any other previous enemy, but I, along with many others, have a big problem with being one shoted by a sphere. The last run I did, I couldn't even take down the shields of a probe, the weakest ship the borg have, before it reached the center gate. I would like someone to please explain that to me, because I just don't understand how that works.

This mission is really annoying.

What the heck was the designer thinking?

Hard is not fun.

You can go on and on about tactics and builds all you like, but if you can't do it with a casual team, it's bad.

I've had to spend hours sitting around rejecting nice people who wanted to go because i had to have a "specific team".

And I'm not wasting cryptic points on reskilling for one lousy instance.

It's bad enough I had to spend a lot of EC and badges for a ship I didn't want and will never use again to complete this.

And now that I think about it, squad sizes in STO are too unbalanced.
In most mmos, it's 6.

If we had that here, it would mean we could have 3 people on either side, possibly making it more manageable.

I really think you need to revise the difficulty of this.

The problem isn't that we can't destroy the probes, it's that we can't do it before they reach the gate.

Extend that distance and we might have a decent chance.

Let's face it, nobody wants to spend all day just doing the start of this.

And the resistance to damage of these Borg vessels is ridiculous.

I've taken out RA7 Undine faster then I could take out these RA6 Borg.
And the Undine are superior to the Borg.

And the ending is completely lame.

A boss who cloaks all the time and takes hours just to finish off?

And not even that hard to kill, just tedious.

The first space part is quite simple.

It is true that the team needs to pump out DPS. The Alpha Squadron way is simple:

Kill everything where it spawns except maybe one of the cubes or a sphere, but beat it up very badly. Have 4 members of the team head toward one of the gates and get behind it. Now regardless of who the last borg unit is targeting/following, the team MUST be behind the gate. When all are in position, the final borg unit is destroyed activitating the gate. Fire at will til the shield comes back up. In the meantime, while the 4 are beating up the gate, the other guy is over there is attacking the probes from the other gate. The only job on the other gate is to engage the probes. Now after the shield comes up...all 4 attack the probes and spheres there then goes to help the lone person. Hopefully someone dies so the loner gets some help fast. After all the probes are dead....kill the spheres since they count toward fail as well. Remember there is about a 2 and 1/2 minute timer before the shield drops again, so get back into position before it does. Rinse and repeat this action til the gate is destroyed. Now, there should be 2 cubes that pop out and that loner over there is gonna get wrecked, most of the time it is me. Kill all those probes and go engage the cubes. Kite one of the cubes away and the remaining borg units should be obliterated. At this point, there are now 3 people taking on the other gate, the one loner between the remaining gate and the centergate, and the other one over there with the kited cube. Rinse and repeat til the final gate is destroyed. Once the gate is destroyed, all the probes and spheres go away and all that is left is that kited cube. Destroy it if you wanna, it isnt required. Go to the center gate and enter...everyone should get the message to go through it.

Part 2: Kill everything....beam down
Part 2A: In this ground part we tend to move to the left. Kill everything and dont forget about those nodes. In the puzzle room kill everything, then one of you needs to use the glowie at the beginning of the puzzle room. There has been some peeps say that a science needs to do this, but I dont think it matters since we have had all types in there, Anyways, there are 6 shielded nodes in the puzzle room, Alpha 1-3 and Beta 1-3, with Alpha on the left and Beta on the right. The Node number start from the top tier being #1 and the bottom teir being #3. Now the team has approximately 3 secs to kill it once the node has been activated from the one that used the glowie at the beginning of the room. It is best to have both expose and exploit weapons here and have a tactical with focus fire 3 as well. Kill it, fight the spawned borg and go help the one in the room by themselves, they really do need it! Rinse and repeat until it is done....I also suggest that you leave the final node to be killed on the upper left...that way the next portion will be easy.
Part 2B: Once the puzzle room is done...a bunch of borg will spawn, now the big machine on the upper left, lets say facing south of node Alpha 1, someone needs to head up there and activate the console and blow it up. Now you can die here and rez just outside the room and head up there and destroy the other, but dont forget to get your accolade by entering it and dying....ofcourse this can be done on the other one and all respawn just outside the room and proced up and destroy the second one as long as someone destroys the first one in the puzzle room.
Part 2C: Once the shield to the boss room is down, everyone needs to run behind the boss and kill 2 nodes behind it as well. Run out...kill everything that follows you, if you wanna reset them just run back toward the puzzle room and they will reset. We take the group on the left, which also pulls the boss, which I might add is about as strong as a Tactical Borg. Kill what is left and get the loot...beam to the surface. Talk to whatchamacallit dude and head to the part 3.

Part 3: You will need atleast 2 people with Charged Particle Burst(CPB), since Donatra will constantly cloak and try to heal. Anyways, simply follow Donatra around and keeping hitting her with CPB when she cloaks and beat her down. She will run away when she gets to a certain %, just follow her, rinse and repeat until she is dead. All the objectives will be completed, head back to gate, finish the STF. Go back to the battle group and talk to whatever the borg womans name is and get you Borg BO.

LOL. That solo person on the entire group of probes and spheres is dead in several seconds, especially if you send an escort or science ship over there. Fail.

I've tried that and it didn't work. The problem with this mission is not the tactics, but the fact that everytime they release a patch, they make the Borg in this mission harder. They dish out a lot of damage and have a high damage resistance themselves. I'm going to try once more and if I am still unsuccessful, then I will drop this mission and never do it again. Even if I complete it this time, I feel like the damage has already been done as far as my attitude toward STO is concerned. I was on the play with the devs event Monday and despite repeated attempts by myself and others to get the devs to show us how it was done, we were ignored. I will be cancelling my subscription for the month of June because I have to go to louisiana for training, but if this game doesn't get any better, I may decide to make it permanent. The content they keep adding is great and all, but I have yet to see them address any of the major issues that players are having with this game. You can polish a turd all you want, but in the end it will still be a turd.
