I think it is a real good game ,, not the sort of game i am used to playing as i am from FPS games such as Battlefield, CoD and so forth ,, it is a real change for me ,, but i have enjoyed it so far being a fan of the star trek series but after reading the forums not as much as big a fan as some of you :p hehe ,,,,

Anyway if any 1 has any tips for a newbie like myself or if there is any more noobs out there that would like to team up or anything just jive me a shout and we can explore the game ,, or even Pro players for that mater can come and laugh at me hehe ,,,,

Happy online gaming

Tips:
Beware in 10F. Ninjas are everywhere.
Use the most advanced equipment available, unless a rare item (but at lower level) is more useful.
Beware of the nerf. There's always one every month
Best type of ship for most people is Science, as it has the ability to make enemies immobile and suffer damage to subsystems.

The best tip I can give you is this: Flying around and shooting at stuff is only a very small part of STO or any MMO. Its all about details, details, details.

Make sure you read all the info you can stand to read on how the game works and how skill points, bridge officer skills work. Also read-up about how different ships work and how ship consoles compliment your weapons and/or ship performance. The rest will come from experience and getting used to the way the game is played.

glad your enjoying the game. we like to keep it crazy in ten forward so dont expect any sane answers but we are all friendly

the game is quite straight forward once you get the hang of it, any questions just ask

I agree with the last two post above the game isnt that hard to get, read every mission some missions at first glance dont tell you were to go but read it over again it does tell you the location.

Tips for the newbie:

1) Use an escort, they're better than all other ships, no exceptions
2) Use a cruiser, they're better than all other ships, no exceptions
3) Use a science ship, they're meh okay.
4) In case the first three rules confused you, they mean "try all the ships to see which one fits you, they're all good but one will fit your play style best."
5) Read the fine print. No, it's not a legal document - it's a well thought-out story that Cryptic put a lot of effort into, and it's worth reading things like mission text and dialogue.
6) Slow down, enjoy the game as you go, and DO NOT rush to RA5, because trust me, there's nothing here. So far the meat of the game is in the early and mid levels. So slow down and enjoy the game.
7) Most people in Ten Forward will group with you, they're a friendly bunch. Join our channel in-game if you want. TenForwardForum.
8) I'm the exception. I don't like you, and I will not group with you. If you ask me to, I will respond with about half an hour of painful ridicules and personal jabs. Possibly interlaced with questioning your sexual preferences, depending on my mood.

Well thanks for the good advice guys ,,, allot nicer than other gaming communities

I have found there is allot of reading to be done and often find myself reading things twice or more ,,,

My style of play has often been aggressive and fast some might say i have the reactions of a cat lol ,,,
I will give it ago in taking it easy but that is not always in my style as i like things yesterday :p
And if ppl feel they don't like me and want to talk about sexual preference depending on there mood be my guest as many try and fail hehe

Again thanks and its time to noob it up

If you have the reactions of a cat I'd say try flying a cruiser, it will cure you of that for sure.

It sounds like you need to hop in an escort.

That's what I fly.

If you want fast and aggressive, escorts are where it's at. Hit me up in-game sometime and I'll give you pointers on how to load out an escort and how they're most effectively flown. Or, if you prefer, you can do your own thing and figure it out as you go.

If you wanna catch me in-game, it's Hazard@SaintHazard

But remember, don't ask to group with me, or I WILL let loose with the insults.
