Just finished 5 PvP matches in my Heavy Cruiser, and at the end of the 5th match, I realized something: Each match, I had almost as much, or more, healing as both teams combined! I can effectively say that this is the reason that we LOST each match, even though I was healing all my teammates! (side note: On the last one, a guy couldn't do anything) Most of the time, they weren't healing until it was too late. And each time, most were cruisers. I think I have a concussion from the incompetence. j/k

Lighter note: Tractor beam + BFI + Ram = win, if you have the heals to back you up. I knocked a BoP down to 15% health in 1 swipe, but since no one was focus-firing, it survived (hello, I'm a cruiser, not an escort!)

I tend to agree with you, when it comes to staying alive healing is much less important than resistances. I suppose that when there are escorts and raptors around that can take a ship with no resistances applied to half hull with one salvo this is not surprising.

But looking at the results of my fights, it becomes very clear that there is one factor which is far more important than all others when it comes to winning a match. I have uploaded the screenies of the results dialog for some of my recent matches. See if you can spot it too.

It seems lie the non healing trend is spreading. I was running the Cure with a pug group last night with 2 Science officers that would not heal anyone but themselves. When I asked one of the Science officers could they please heal other team members the responce was "this mission is to easy I should not have to heal anyone at all" I found the responce kind of strange seeing has all 5 members of the team were respawing over and over and over again. Wow I'd hate to see hard missions

A tad off topic, but are those After Match Summaries organised in any particular order?

As for the healing, I've just started PvPing and am enjoying it thoroughly. I do however need to learn how to buff allies quickly. Can it be done without losing your target?

Has long has there in your skills range it will help them. To the best of my knowledge you can still attack enemies and heal alies at the same time. If the alie you wan't to heal is not on your team you'll need to click on there craft to help them and that can sometimes be a pain to do.

I used to heal allies in PvP, until some teams started yelling at me to stop it. Now I don't heal anyone unless they ask for it when we team up. And only the person asking.
For PvE, I always heal my team. Usually, its waaay easier to find a team as a healer than as a tac, no matter if its a sci or eng healer. So there seems to be demand. If people think their team needs no heals because 'the mission is too easy'... I'd leave the team and get a new one together, one that understands the meaning of 'team work'.

Why would anyone not want to be healed? Just curious?

If your ever teamed with a captain named Forty-Two, go ahead and feel free to heal all you want.
