out of curiousity, have there been any serious skill changes in the past month or so? I've been busy.

No. But they & the nebula are supposed to hit tribble tomorrow/early next week.

Very good and informative thread! I learned a lot about healing from you, faithborn, thanks. Though I've never played my science as pure healer so far, but with the 1.2 changes, I might try that some time in the future.
Nevertheless - one can see that there is so much more it takes to be a good healer then many might have though of in the first place, including myself in some parts.
I'd wish someone could pull off a comparably informative thread for science CC as well...

I did a few minor changes like updating my build in the list and making a few minor corrections. Due to several factors I have neglected to include the Team fleet buffs and a few other things.

Thanks for sharing. Hm, you switched to cannon weapons? All turrets I assume... why is that?

Great guide! Looking at your build, however, you kinda get hosed on the shield healing. All you have is Extend Shields and Emergency Power to Shields (for yourself, and to boost Extends). If you have science ship on your team that could cover the shields, then maybe you would be fine, but I've found that once shields drop, you lose, as a HYT III can pretty much wipe you out. You would really get crushed by a good Charged Particle Burst, as the range is 5k and the shield damage is about 4k (on a good build), which wipes out at least half of an escorts shields, more if they don't use the shield cap console.

Also, the self heals are lacking a bit. If I faced you, I would just hit the dps-er, let you burn all of your heals, and hit you, since you wouldn't have anything to keep yourself alive with. Aye, there's the rub. Should you heal, or should you tank? If you are with a team with lots of cross-healing, then your build would definitely work. In a team with less than lots of cross-healing...

At any rate, very nice job! Very informative!

you have to remember though, I'm an engineer. As such from simply EPtS2 and RSF I can max out my shield resists for 30 seconds. miracle worker can easily negate most spikes as well (what with the 48k shield heal and the 18k hull heal). As for my ally, ES1 and EPtS1 (I would hope that they aren't foolish enough to not carry heals) really does a number on income damage to the shields.

I would also stagger my heals too. when you stagger the heals you're more likely to have something to catch the damage (5 second cooldown between skills rather than a 15 second cooldown between skills). But yes, targeting the healer while the heals are on cooldown is a big issue.

fortunately, My fleetmates are crazy good :p

@matrix; I originally switched to cannons when FBP only affected beams so I could maintain a high dps. As such I've returned to beams

I've got a fleetmate who runs a healer cruiser as well, and he and I chain our ES1s, and I run EPtS III x2 and EPtA I, so my shield/aux power is pretty much always above 100. I also like RSP still, since it does break most spikes and it is nice when chained with an RSF after, since your shields are full. By that point, my opponents usually become discouraged and target someone else, for whom I still have my other heals. RSF is so freakin good though. I usually swap to another target, then target the cruiser after it wears off.

I guess it is just a matter of preference and with whom you fly

And yes, your fleetmates are crazy good...though I haven't seen them much lately

Well, since I'm sci and pretty much running faithborns build, I can confirm, that it lacks a little self defense. As an engineer this would be different, no question. Though, I always assumed this build to be a team-setup. So at least you'd need some kind of teamplay around.
Thats why I often get a little frustrated, since I try so freaking hard to keep everyone alive and if I'm focused, it seems to not bother anyone at all.

But as I said before, I won't change that, since I still have hope, general PuG performance will increase someday. Sure I could slot some more self defense, but I don't want to be a flying target dummy. That's just lame.

I just keep telling those guys not to run away from me, since I'll heal them and all the other fancy stuff. I really should get some more keybinds for chat phrases ^^
