Many players has spent millions in energy credits speccing just the way they like.

And now we are told our spec is wrong due to major changes... and I can live with that.

But here is the problem I'm having, after all the resources and times casual players go through just to be told they need to totally change the way they play without a form of compensation seems quite wrong.

A good example of compensation is unlocking the power store of all bridge officer abilities even the rare ones for the next 30 days. It may not be the best solution, but it would certainly alleviate the frustration most players just went through after patch 1.2 went live.

A free respec does go a long way, but it wouldn't help much for us RA5 who wants those new "flavor of the month" ability.

After all, many of Cryptic's subscribers pays monthly.

Myself, I am standing at a threshold where not sure it's worst investing the time to redo my spec all over again and easier to just play something else(or another game). Would make the world a difference if the power store was unlocked for a short time to fix a major balance fix on Cryptic's part.

After all, subscribers never like wasting time, especially the casual gamers who ends up paying the same fees as the "living in their basement kid with no life" players.

On my last words...

Why should the players pay for a major change done by Cryptic?

1 free respec. Plus 1 vet reward free respec. Plus thousands of points in merits from accolades.

No compensation?

What?

A better example would be to give people who've been playing the game awhile free merits to spend how they like on changes like this by tying the accolade rewards to the same patch that did this.

And that, conveniently, was the path they chose.

This thread is surreal. They gave you free stuff. But you want more free stuff.

That's ... strange.

well, i am on my 3rd respec after the patch, and i may still have to respec one or two more times for fine tuning as i get to test out other abilities...

a few days of free respecing and boff training would definately be apperciated!

Or you could of just gone to Test server, respec'ed, tested, found a build you liked. And then used that on the live server and only need to use one live respec token.

Afraid you didn't read the thread at all. I'm not talking about the free stuff, I'm talking about the actual bridge officer skills. The ones only found on very rare officers.

Do you often post crap without reading it through?

A good example would have to be Target Shield Subsystem 3, which costed a fortune before the patch and now, barely worth it. All those escorts on new tactical officers will have to spend again a fortune just to get back to a decent build. Granted everyone is on that problem at the moment, but no one would be in this predicament if things were balance since day 1.

Having said that, people shouldn't be penalized or forced into energy credit farming just to get back at a decent build. Hence... UNLOCK the power store!

Or you could simply post crap which has nothing to do with what I'm saying, and instead of endorsing a better patching method, scare the casual players away.

P.S.: FYI, I don't own an escort ship, but know many of them that do and never posts on the forums. I am their voice. Many players never post in forums and are often unheard, and then just quit the game. #1 reason for subscription lost after the first 3 months is link to bad patching/balancing methods.

As logical your suggestion is, it's also blind to subscribers needs.

Many players does not go on tribble for the following reasons...
1. Don't have the hard drive space for the extra install.
2. Have a life outside of this game.
3. Only play for casual gaming.

Your logical also have another flaw, words gets out fast and when new ability are considered the new OP(overly played), then the prices on the exchanges goes way up on specific very rare bridge officers. This isn't done over months, it's done over days. Where most casual gamers will never be able to afford any time soon. Would just be easier for those casual gamers to quit the game for months and come back once everyone had time to buy those bridge officers so the prices has a chance of going down.

Why I do hate so much about the forums, is most comments here only represents a small percentage of the actual players. Most casual gamers DOES NOT contribute to the forums. And this game needs every subscribers if it wants to keep competing with upcomming mmos. MMO market competition is fierce. Respect the player.

Point 1 is a fair concern. But improved hard drive space is one of the cheapest and easiest upgrades one can do to a PC.

I don't understand point 2. I'm assuming by mentioning life outside the game, you mean time. But you are either going to experiment with a build on the live server or on test. Either way you will experiment, learn, and adjust to the new patch. The time invested is the same. Test server only provides the bonus of allowing tests without the cost of live resources.

Point 3 seems at odds with the rest of the topic. The truly casual folks really are the least effected by updates in general. The very point of being casual is to play a build thats fun for them. And not worry about what build is most effective, current, or powerful. To anyone playing on normal mode casually these changes are almost negligible.

You simply cant convince me its the casual players who are worked up into a frothing lather of anger over having to spend, millions, to adjust their builds. That despite the rage and anger only changed and tweaked a few things, overall damage is lower, heals are better, and some powers have a longer cool down, or dont stack or chain like before.

Id imagine most are getting by just fine with minimal adjustments and without all the rage and complaints.

No, but you obviously do.

This last patch gave you FREE merits and FREE bridge officer points.

This last patch already gave you free stuff to deal with changing your spec, your skills and your officers around.

You are simply greedy. And want more free stuff.

Normally I'm a pretty even tempered fellow. But after reading your posts in this thread, personally, I hope this patch does drive you away from the game. The community isn't helped by the presence of players like you. And the game would be better off without your future participation.

Good luck in whatever other future virtual world you and your vaunted opinions land.

And this is why you respec on tribble first.

I understand that it's frustrating to say spend 3 million on a TSS3 bo or whatever it was and now find that it doesn't suit your style. Though the reality is that in any mmo with new updates/patches the gear and ability balance changes and it extends the lifetime of the game as players try to get the "newest" best thing whether they be seasonal, casual, or fixated players. My sci vessel became far less effective and I'll probably have to respect, Personally, I'm not too bothered as even the "elite" have to do it too.

Anyway, it's a little frustrating that my tyken's 3 is now far less useful but even if my hard earned BO unique skill got hammered, I'll just bench em till it's adjusted to a balanced state, find a new ability to suit my fancy, or shrug my shoulders and laugh it off. I really don't think it's a big deal.
