something regarding "Engine Trails":
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kj178APgdno

another Engine Trail

( ...i hope the Galaxy X will look HALF that good in STO )

note:
all Engine Trails in the Movies where at WARP. Not at Impuls... and it looks more like a blur effect then an engine trail...

I wouldn't mind if that would be a little closer to the Shows.

The Impulse trails are there in game to give an indication to speed.

the engine trails should be a toggle option, I want to get rid of them...and have them only while flying around sector blocks...

everything blinking that is not part of my ship should be able to shut off. that includes almost all Abilities.

I want my Ship, Shields and Weaponsfire, silly blinking stuff is not Star Trek...

Engine (Impulse) trails should definatly be a toggle option, it's been a common request enough over the time since game start and prior. However, realistically, Cryptic have bigger fish to fry than a simple ergonomic feature that only a few wish to be done, maybe in the future it'll happen, but its not something that'll happen immediately.

Agreed, sound and icons are more than enough for me for most abilites.

I'd keep the FX for things that actually create a visual effect itself like hazard emitters....

But hey I can live with the current system. I would just prefer to have toggles.

i can live with this game not beeing a 100% accurate simulation of the Trek Tech we know.
But have you be so damn obvious about it that it is a game... like it was made for 13 year olds.
uuh shiny blink blink... *sigh*

Take for instance emergency power to engines.
That Skill makes the engines glow blue -> nice, that is the perfect example of how skills should look like.
But it also adds some red round spinning icon in the middle of my necelles -> DO NOT WANT THAT!

Also the inside of Data's head. Technically appropriate and very cool.

And torpedoes... torpedoes are very blinky right before they pulverize you.
