Eh, if you think of the saucers as particle accelerators, they won't burn your eyes quite as much. Yeah though, I don't like the early few ships either. I like the look of the akira class and such much better.

I recruited panda though, momo. You should make an alt to come game with us! We spent the first hour changing panda's shoes.

i love the excelsior, i used to play this tactical game with it, and it was awesome. 6 type 11 and 8 type 7 phasers to a broad side and a pair of the most powerful torpedo fore and aft. only had a pair of type 11 phaser to cover the fore and aft, but man oh man was this ship deadly. really slow move ratio,but it had enough total power to race any ship.
i won a few games just dumping all my power to movement and a pair of torpedo, and streaking across the map catching my opponent unprepared, with no power to weapons and very little to the shields.
i can still hear my friends swearing at me over that one.

Panda, what are the names or method that the Klingon ships are classified?

Like, with the feds, we have Cruisers, Heavy Cruisers etc. What do Klinks have?

bird-of-prey, which are small, and fast, they're like a fed escort(only smaller and faster), sorta, but they specialize in hit and run, with their battle cloak, which lets the cloak any time anywhere under fire or not (all other ships hae to be out of red alert to cloak ) they usually only have 1 or 2 weapon slots on the back and 3-4 on the front, best used with cannons or heavycannons and turrets, they're also so manuverable that you really don't need to worry aboutyour opponent getting out of your firing arc they have small crews though so repair power is down, they have low shields aswell and if i remember correct they do NOT get a bonus to weapons (if they do it's small ) so while they are fast and manuvearble, they're generally considered "weak" as far as thier ability to take a hit.

then you have raptors, which are the "attack ships" i guess you could call them, of the KDF, they're bigger then bops. and thus have larger crews, and they special in attack, attack attack attack and more attack, they scream attack! they usully have 4 forward weapons and 2-3 aft weapons,theget a bonus to attack power and they have 3 tactical bo spots, theyare almost identical performance and playstype wise to an escort and for comparison purposes can be considered the kdf version of an escort.

then you have the "heavy cruiser" the power house, these ships are MASSIVE they are called heavy for a reason, they're like a federation cruiser on steriods, boasting 1 extra engineering slot over their fed counter parts, they have the most hull, the most shield, and the best repair rate, they also have the most weapon slots, have 4 fore and 4 aft weapon slots, they're the biggest ships in the fleet (except for 1 ) they get bonuses to hull, and repair rates but have less speed and turning due to thier size. the negh'var is a heavy cruiser.

and lastly, you have the carrier, there is only 1 ship in this class, it's class, it's HUGE able to fit mutliple bird of prey inside it's hull, it's also the closest thing the klingons haveto a "science" vessel, having 2 science officer slots to the other ships, 1 science bo slot, it's also so big that it can't cloak, it has bonuses to shield and energy as well as stealth detection and it also has that target subsystem skills that federation science ships come standard with.

also i'd like to point out that ALL klingon ships are, foremost designed for combat, unlike federation ships, like olympic class is designed as a hospital ship or the hope class is designed as an exploration/study ship, or the constitution was designed as a deep exploration ship, or the emmesary was designed as a long range cargo freighter, etc etc, no, klingon ships are designed with 1 thingin mind, COMBAT. ALL klingon ships (even the carrier which turns like a bus (if you think the cruisers turn bad try turning a carrier ) can equip cannons, dual and heavy , in fact the bird of pret and raptor classes come standard with dual/dual heavy cannons when you buy them.

to compare ships navally

a bird of prey would be like a gun boat or even more accurately, a submarine, small fast, able to travel very quickle an into hard to reach areas, and able to slip away unseen but very easy to destroy in a straight out fight

raptors would be be like frigates or cruisers, they pack a good punch and are still pretty fast, and on their own they can be a pretty good threat, also with a big of luck and some skill they can hold thier own with the big boys.

heavy cruisers, and the big boys, they're the battle ships and the destroyers, tey carry the big guns, and the big fire power you KNOW you're ****ed when one of them arriave on the sceen

now as for fed side.
escorts are the same as raptors, not much difference there.

scence ships, these are like your specialty ships, your fuel ships, your medical ships, your sub detectio ships, our countermeasure ships, they're there to help support the fleet, by themselve they're annoying, but a pretty esy target to take out if you know how, it's when they are in a group that they really shine

now as for fed cruisers, they are more like your utility ships, your cargo ships, your troop transports etc etc, they're more liek taking an oil tanker and retro fitting it into a battlehip, they're designed for transporting large supplies or travelling long distances first and foremost and then combatis secondary to that (mind you they can hold thier own just not as well as a battleship designed to be a battleship.

A moment in the life of a toucan: A scream echoes around the room, the fire of a phaser. The disintegrated blood mists begin to clear, the last corpse hits the deck. I look around to check my colleagues. "Panda? Where's Panda? Has anyone seen her?" From far down the corridor, the cries of battle come from a savage fighter, taking on a whole group with no support. *sigh*... "Panda, slow down! Come back! Don't aggro another group! AHHH!!"
