Apparently, Chell gets dragged back inside the facility by the party escort robots and stuck in suspended animation for hundreds of years. when she wakes up, all of humanity is dead except for her. There's also one very insane AI with split personalities, a computer simulated best friend hand picked by the insane AI to annoy the crap out of her, and the last sentient descendant of her pet cat.

I won't play Portal II. I hate games that don't reward you for playing them. I didn't like ******** II at first because it just assumed that I had lost ******** I. I didn't like KOTOR II too much because it didn't matter that I beat Malak in the first part and destroyed the Starforge. The Jedi were killed off anyway. And Portal doesn't even have a story that can draw you in. You are a girl with weird implants in her legs that is used as a guinea pig by a crazy AI. You fight for your freedom, win and then are dragged back, frozen and have to do everything again just with plants in the test chambers? No thanks.

So if a game doesn't end with the charming prince sweeping you off your feet and living happily ever after with you in a little cottage by the sea, you don't like it?

You must hate every game ever made ever.

Quite literally every decent game I can come up with off the top of my head ends that way or has a sequel that retcons it to have ended that way. Dawn of War, Baldur's Gate, Planescape, Starcraft, ********, Diablo, Icewind Dale, Fallout, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty (I could go on and on), sh*t even the less creative titles like the GTA series and Saints Row end in shame, or retcon a shameful ending.

Quick, name your five favorite games, and if none of them are My Little Pony titles, I will call you a hypocrite! Go!

Yes. But props on Civ II being in your top 5. It's in my top 10, though I reference Civ II: Test of Time in my list. Same game, but with two extra campaign settings (Fantasy and Sci-Fi) to go with the classic version.
