# 1 World Cup predictions
06-11-2010, 05:38 AM
Alright, so Match 1 is today.

This is the thread for ongoing World Cup predictions, and for making fun of people after each match who got it wrong.

First match in Johannesburg, South Africa and Mexico. I'm going with South Africa on this one.

Second match tonight in Cape Town, Uruguay and France. I'm betting on the Frenchies.

What are your predictions, 10-4?

Deutschland all the way baby.

I dunno, I think perhaps Mexico may win this match. Sure, SA is on home turf, but they don't try to make runs for the border. The Mexican team is by far better on their feet because of this.

I am going to go for Uruguay, because they aren't France.

Obviously. I already have my black Germany away jersey. They're gonna take it this year.

But more specific than that, I want predictions on each match! :p

Here's the match schedule.

I can see it being difficult with France and Uruguay, but SA - Mexico is going to be a match worth watching.

Well, in all seriousness, I am pulling for SA on this one. Just because they are underdogs, this is on their home turf. If they can pull off a win on the opening game, then I would say they could lose the rest and still be winners.

OK first game, im going to go with South Africa, they are a difficult team to beat and have home advantage, and the last time i saw Mexico their defence was awful.

the second match is tricky as the French can be brilliant or terrible in the group stages, but i see the French just shading it by the odd goal.

for the record my overall prediction is for Argentina to win, simple because they have the best player in the world right now in messi.
