# 1 31 Days to season 2
06-14-2010, 07:44 AM
Lots coming according to the calendar. I kind of have to doubt we'll be seeing even a fraction of what's currently slated for season 2 given that May's calendar promised a LOT more than it delivered. So I've started this thread so that we might all indulge in the timeless art of speculation. What do you think will actually arrive for season 2, and what do you think is just 'big talk' on the current calendar?

Let me put it like this: IF it is big talk then they may as well bury STO right then and there.

OR, if it is like I think it is then STO will be revived and start it's 2nd successful launch. They probably took everything planned for patch 1.3 and put it in their initial Season 2 launch package. Season 2 will come in different patches also, pretty much the same as Season 1. If we can trust the calender a bit however then it does seem that the initial launch package is pretty decent.

I just hope that the multi-faction content won't be a lie because a LOT and a LOT of KDF players are looking forward to that.

The redesigned Nomad is scheduled for Season 2 and if I remember correctly, a few other improved shipmodels should be included too. A shame that we'llk have to wait for Season 2 for that.
Other than that, I am not really too excited about Season 2. I can't really spot anything too great about it. Sure, the new level cap is good, you finally don't feel restricted at the mid of a rank anymore. But contentwise? I don't know what we can really expect from the First Contact missions or the Diplomatic Corps.
I'd love to see some long term missions or goals you can achieve. Maybe extending federation/klingon borders, really discover and unlock new sectors. Help building new space stations and outposts which later could be actually used. Dynamic borders on war critical sectors, meaning PvP matches would actually at least effect global gameplay on certain sectors up to some point. Getting new NPC allies, maybe access to new technologies which might be coupled into Memery Alpha... oh right, next topic:

Memory Alpha is still uninteresting and worthless. It would be better if you could at least craft any interesting items, but those generic blue stuff is kinda dull. I hope the whole crafting system gets yet another boost for Season 2, maybe even something which can enhance your ship to some point, or unlock new customization options for ship creation, like new patterns, new windows and so on. Some more choice of ship devices would be a nice touch too. Basicly you only got the energy batteries, which I think is somewhat disappointing. Crafting of new devices would be nice. Some with consoles, we only get green Mk X consoles at the moment, why not being able to craft blue or even purple Mk X based on the green ones?

The ship interiors are nice.... but what exactly do they add to the gameplay? Is our bridge finally functional, meaing can we finally play the game with the view from the captains seat? I guess not. So you can wander around alone your ship corridors, basicly the same what the bridge is on live server. To be honest that doesn't sound too exciting. Sure, a personalized ready room is interesting - but again, that doesn't add much to the gameplay itself.

Oh yes, the minigames. That is a nice touch if you got nothing to do, are bored or something just for inbetween some action. But nothing more. It's okay that they're here - yet otherwise they don't add much to the game itself.
