(It is not, 4 to 8 seconds per test) Ha!!!

Though my statement is still true, it is faster. And remember I agree with you, it looks quite silly.

Not to mention the frustration if one "over shoots" something (I'm looking at you "scan vessel" mission!) That is when I REALLY agree with you!

And, for more agreements, I do think that this was not intended.

Well, if you mean an auto-reply to the user, that happens with all user-submitted bug entries (whether they turn out to be bugs or not). There really is no way to tell what's happened with the ticket once it's submitted, unfortunately.

Escorts and BoPs also have a funny "non-drift" effect:

With zero engine power, they can hardly turn left/right.

Cruisers can turn quite well with zero engines - funnily due to their higher inertia.

?

I'm looking at this right now and my turn rate is higher on my BoP than my cruiser when my speed is set at zero on both vessels. The results I'm seeing with a stopwatch are confirmed/identical to the deg/sec turn rate values listed on both ships character sheets. You may have observed some cruisers using engines with the AUX thruster modifier (which some people tend to do in PvP).

I use the same engine on my Cruiser as on my Bird of Prey, purple " Aux Spd Turn"

I get only 1.6 degrees turnate with "25% turnrate while engines disabled" engines when specced for Birds of Prey

3.7 degrees with my Fleet Escort while not specced for Escorts

3.2 degrees with my Assault Cruiser, specced for Cruisers.

(all at exactly ZERO / 0 speed)

That sounds about right (the escort and cruiser). Had you been specced for Escorts that turn rating would be even higher. The BoP rating sounds pretty off, though. Is that on a Klingon character who is specced in Bird of Preys, or a Federation character who grabbed a Bird of Prey before the latest patch?

I understand why the drift is in game, but i will say i hate it and think it makes already difficult to turn ships, even more difficult to manuever. If you think the drift is bad in a cruiser, try using a carrier, you go into full reverse to stop forward momentum and still drift forward a couple seconds in reverse.

No it is a native Klingon char. Power levels and skill build are about equal to the Fed char, spec is very similar.

And yeah, the extreme turnrate loss of the BoP at zero speed seems odd to me, too.

Something is definitely off there. The lower tier BoPs don't seem to have this problem.

Obviously when I see something breaking an established pattern with no apparent rhyme or reason, I'm not above suspecting a bug or unintended side effects (whether it's a tier-5 cruisers oddly sliding through turns or tier-5 BoPs with abnormally slow turning speeds at 0 engine power). Have you tried filing a bug report?

The drift is ghey.

Up the inertia values of the offending ships already!
