I have to agree. And as the one poster above who stated the Mogai Escorts kept closing on them I've found that to be true as well.
Seems to me the AI took some hits with the updates that have been pushed out and the AI seriously needs to be looked at again. Not that it's that bad, but the AI ships do seem to all have the same attacks, the same powers, the same flight rate, the same filght patterns, etc. And I would think there would be some variations between them, especailly between the different races.
I don't know, maybe they all went to the same flight school?
Better question would be why in the world does the AI ships turn their weakest shields towards you in a fight? It doesn't take much strategy to stay on their weak side and pummel when the enemy in question forgoes turning right to face the 100% shield section. Instead it faces the section you just crippled. .
ya know that made me think of the number of times i just followed the slow battleship and took out its rear shields and blew it up, which when i think about it also probly explains why escorts in pvp always hug my rear and are totally surprised when i literaly back up and they fly by me (top gun anyone?) i wonder if its some how connected...

The AI needs a lot of work, and the slow impulse speed probably is the least of their problems. What about the fact that Negh'Vars have their most powerful armament in the front (1 DB, 1 DHC, 1 BA, 1 Photon) and yet they try to broadside with 2 Beam Arrays?
The AI isn't even doing basic things right. I know the ships are slow and might not always be able to get its fore weapons trained on you, but it doesn't even try. In fact, even if you try to stay in front of it, it will attempt to turn to broadside.
First of all OP: that argument is both baffling and crazy. 2nd of all, not all NPC's fly at 1/4 impulse: Mogai escorts in romulan space routinely pop evasive manuevers upon encountering you and fly at a ridiculous speed for quite a while.
Boom. Headshot.
Well, from my experience facing the Mogai escorts, the other romulan ships seem just right, just this one escort moves and turns like its got evasive maneuvers on, when it doesn't, then when it does turn it on, he moves like he is at full impulse. lol
That ship either needs to be reduced in size or slowed down.
Also, for the OP, i have seen them all go full speed, unless i damage their engines, then they don't move at all.

Some players are never happy. lol
If they fixed this and made them more smarter, you will likely be the first to complain its too hard.
Also, all the ships i face, always seem to try to get me in their frontal area.
