I just hope your not intending to give out the Galaxy (AGT) model that was for the referal program to the CSTORE...because then you will have lost not just myself but iam sure others...
I'm a lifer, and I'm not against these items being placed in the C-Store. I am also a Beta II player of SWG, and this is nothing like what SOE did. Don't try to stir up fear and loathing by invoking SWG and SOE. Cryptip did what they said in January that they would, which is make these items available in the C-Store. Just so you know, there is a good chance that the AGT Galaxy will eventually end up in the C-Store, as well. You got your stuff, what is wrong with letting others that could not get it at the time have a crack at it?

In a nutshell, the above is the situation with one caveat - because marketing (in any company) is expected to deceive potential consumers about the realities of its company's products, that makes it okay.

Since previously exclusive items are now going to be available in the c-store, anything that is ever described as a bonus or exclusive can at any time also be placed in the c-store at Cryptic's discretion. No statement to the contrary is valid now since previous statements have been reinterpreted. The $2.00 lifetime sub is still possible, the Galaxy-X, the Blue names on the forums, because only at this point in time is it not going to happen.

I still retain faith in the Devs, they have been uncommonly upfront about what they intend and are hoping/planning to do. That to me is worth a thousand marketing drones. Just remember, when you refer anyone to this game, to do your part and ensure you let them know not to trust any exclusive or bonus offers that may be made. Customers like saving money so informing them that waiting and paying the minimum amount for their sub will mean they can pick and choose later what they would like from the 'bonus' and 'exclusive' items at greatly reduced cost to them.

That's hyperbolic - the comparisons between STO's development choices and SWG's are tenuous at best.

No, there is no point in referring friends to play. What use is a friend if you can't get anything out of it?

Besides, they'd only end up suing you for compensation.

With all due respect, in the future could your marketing people please put something in bold print that explains to customers what they are buying? Do this so they understand they are buying a subscription to a game that comes with a free gift and not a $200 dollar digital doll outfit that comes with a free subscription to a game.

I also hope that Lifetime Subscriptions will not be offered in the C-Store for 1% of what they originally cost. I do not care if you offer the Borg character or not. If people really want to play it, put it up there.
Oddly enough, I was just talking to Rekhan, and he was just saying the same thing as you. This is an area where we can improve, and will.
I think, more importantly, it should be more clearly stated whether or not the bonus items will be exclusive in perpetuity or not. You may not get as many CO Lifetime subs from die-hard trekkies, but you'll have a great deal less ill-will (and satisfied customers) in the long run, to use that example.

One of the major gripes the CO lifetimers have is that the words "unique and exclusive" were tied to the Mirror uniforms, which means that (despite intent and fine print) some people did pay $200 for the uniforms, becuase it's the uniforms they truly wanted, and were under the implicit understanding that this was the only venue to ever aquire them.

Yep this was about the amount of Mock Outrage I expected.

Anyway I'm glad Cryptic added these items, I was under the impression that they were going to be added all along..of course I actually approach such things with a modicum of common sense.

So, this really isn't about some injustice, or Cryptic "tricking you." This is about you wanting to be able to say you have something that no one else can have. Perhaps you are not very familiar with MMOs. This is not the way things work.

I keep seeing this argument crop up a lot over this issue. I'll ask you one simple question: Did you buy a lifetime subscription because of the little bonuses or because of the inherent perks that comes with a lifetime subscription?

Just curious because as far as I know, you pre-launch lifers still exclusively have some perks even us post-launch lifers don't (Liberated Borg captain for one).

What this whole debate boils down to is a group of people, not all, but a significant number want something to set themselves apart from the rest of the players. They use words like, "We were lied to" and " We were tricked" and trust etc. Yet, the real point is they lost what set them apart and made them feel all special.

To the group of people. To bad, so sad. You no longer have your special fluffy stuff. Guess what, neither do I. I don't care because I didn't want that stuff to feel special or to set myself apart from others. Not to mention you had all weekend to make your opinion known so now you really don't have a right to complain. Should have done that before they were put on the c-store.

For those that wants Cryptic to compensate them. I say you don't deserve anything!
