could be your problem i know from experiance that when im looking at forums i get down about things as there is so many QQ threads. (yet i cant seam to help myself)
to OP: nicely worded, hate to see someone mature go, but i understand your reasons, i would give the advice though to check it out in a month or two when the diplomatic corps is in full swing, or even when the user generated content is going. they might of been more what you were wanting
