# 1 Cryptic and Hacking

Cryptic, are you really cracking down on exploiters?

In a PVP match today, I ran into the same exploiter that was using a Speed Exploit a few weeks ago, which I had credible witnesses. Where the guy was using an ability to maintain Full Impulse Speed while in combat.

And today, I run into the same person, now using a cloaking exploit. And the funny thing is, he's a Federation Escort. Where nothing at all was on my sensors, then suddenly I'm dead. So unless Masked Energy Signature got a boost I'm not aware of, I'm pretty sure it's an exploit.

Makes me wonder is STO really that easy to hack into? And what guarantees do we got regarding the safety of our accounts?

You need to learn how client side hacks work man.

If you think someone is using a bug to unfair advantage in PvP, please submit a behavior report through the GM ticket dialog. Also, I think you may misunderstand the difference between "hacking" (security violations) and bugs (and the exploiting thereof).

Trust me, I do report them and promptly. :p

But from what you are saying, these people aren't hacking the code like they did with other MMOs like Everquest (which too had speed hacks). Instead, they are known exploits?

I can't speak for anything else, but I know a combination of legitimate ingame abilities that allows me to go at full impulse speeds for about 5 seconds. It's not exploiting, it's using known abilities in conjunction with each other.

Now that I peaked your curiosity, use an engine battery, then use evasive manuevers.

Davis, I wasn't refering to the stacking of Emergency Engines + Engine Batteries + Evasive Manuvers (which Ramming Speed and APO can add to it as well).

The Escape Stacking only last a few seconds, this guy was maintaining it indefinitely. He engaged in PvP, and retreated with this same speed. Even one of STO's prominent PvPers gave chase and wasn't able to catch the guy and agreed the guy was exploiting.

And the same guy appeared again, but this time managed to have a cloaking ability. And we know Federation Escorts do not have cloaking, only the G-X does.

I have reported a fair few "Exploits" of the Game Mechanics before and nothing gets done about it....

And the ones I have reported in the past ARE Exploits of the game....

Which is the point of this thread. Is Cryptic fixing these exploits and stopping the exploiters?

See the part I dont understand is cant we just report a person who is " cheating " lets call it and you ( cryptic ) decides if its a exploit or hack . Ive tried to report people and gotten the run around about bug submission etc . I dont know what it is but I can clearly see that someone is cheating and they should be investigated right away by a GM shouldnt they ? Not what they were doing going into a bug database their to wait until a dev can address problem , no ?
