Do you really think that could have happened in Trek?

With the right equipment i don't see whynot, shields always went down rather quickly in the shows when they wanted them to.

Pretty much you have to remember in the show weapons were not fited as much as you think at there highest yeilds. When they were they pretty much ***** anything they touched. Even a warbird could burn the Enterprise if she got the jump on them.

Ships in "actual" Star Trek were far far more fragile than they are in STO.

In the show it's almost like nobody ever puts their shields up. Remember all those scenes in DS9 when torpedoes just flew through everyones hulls without stopping for shields.

Or where single beam attacks from Cardassian ships blow massive holes through fed ships and cut through hulls like butter.

Mmmm lets see, the Big-E could take the full onslaught of the scimitar's 52 disruptor banks for several seconds.
Could the Defiant's mere four phaser cannons take down the E's shields in one volley?

Absolutely not. :p

In addition, on-screen evidence points the phaser cannons to just be in the same weapons class as disruptor cannons which only goes to put futher emphasis on that "No".

You misunderstand: those were fleet unbanded warzones when the KDF brought BG10 to a CPT1 fight....

Not counting Star Trek II, you cant even beging to use canon as an estimate for an "accurate" ship damage profile, or for how strong weapons are.

The writers never remained consistent enough.

Weapon and shield strengths in canon vary by the quantity of narrativium in the area.

The Enterprise A was taking repeated torpedo impacts in ST6 for quite a while before her shields failed.
