I've been reading a lot about the poor, displaced and hated Klingons on this game so I thought..hey why not make a Klingon warrior for fun. You know what? It's not as bad as they complain about, OK maybe the details need some work, what doesn't? But here's what I found out, the first day on a new Federation man, you start out as Ensign, OK they jump you to LT. as soon as possible but still you start out as Ensign. On the Klingon side, you start out as Lt #4..not bad for a start, the Federation men start out with a ship (called light cruiser, really frigate) and the Klingons have their Bird of Prey,(still frigate class) no biggie there. BUT the Federation starts out with equipment at level 0..not level 1..but 0..then you have to work your way up from there, the Klingons give you level 2 everything right away, and the Federation has to be LT. Commander (LT. 11) to get the same thing, but only if you watch carefully and buy/trade or loot the right equipment. So in my opinion, the Klingons have nothing to complain about except maybe story..they get a better start than the Federation on every level, that's my research and my opinion, have fun.

It's not about who starts with more items, who starts at a higher level, or who has a bigger hill to climb; it's about depth of gameplay and the Klingon lack of it.

to be honest both sides have very little in the way of content the federation side does have some really amazing missions which are let down by the drudge in the middle.

Consisting of

Scout 5 waypoints killing xx when found

Scan 5 objectives (posisbly killing but sometimes not)

defend target from you get it 5 waves of baddies.

Rinse and repeat.

I really really really cant force myself to do ANY missions in this game any more since they nerfed exping by instance jumping its just made the game boring the time spent between the truely amazing missions is ruined by drudgery after drudgery.

At least with klingon your under no impression there is no content, federation your fooled into thinking you have content but in reality you have about 20 iconic truely amazing missions that make you happy and glad to be a treker backfilled with 150 cut and paste bore fests.

IF i could just buy those levels from the c-store so i could do the fun missions i probbly would, if i could just bypass the drudgery while leveling up to do the amazing missions this game would be fun.

Also im getting a bit anoying sort of that cryptic hasnt really released any content of note the patches we have seen have been pretty lacking the ship skins are nice BUT at the end of the day i still have nothing to do with them so they are pretty pointless.

I would really love them to remove ALL the cut and paste repeatable missions and put in story arcs with branching choices, (like whats been done in champions) proper exploration IE take it out the cat box and put us in a proper dynamic unvierse.

If its not being releaed on xbox then you can stop configning yourseves to the xbox specification.

Probbloy a bit ranty but its getting a bit tired now.

I totally agree that lack of content here is a big problem, but that's something we can talk about all day and cant fix ourselves. I wasn't making fun of anyone or their toons, just made a fair and frank observation. I also wish we had some missions they thought was worth doing without having to wade through 5-6 waves of ships to finish, with each one getting bigger. Just good solid missions that end after you finish and not have someone drop a Dreadnought on you when your alone in your frigate.

But, in order to even create a Klingon, you have to play a Fed until Lt 6, or until you do a certain mission (Stop the Signal, from memory) which you don't get until Lt 5.

Except it's not really a 'light cruiser', the BoP is really a 'light escort' with a cloak - but, yes, they're roughly even. However, assuming you've just started playing, and have created a Klingon at the first opportunity, so this is your second character, you've just been flying a Fed in a light cruiser for 5-6 levels, so it takes a bit of getting used to - especially learning how to use the cloak properly.

Well, firstly on my Fed characters, I got many Mk II items from mission rewards, and I found it fairly easy to get enough money to buy what I didn't get as rewards so I had a full set of Mk II items by the time I was Lt 7 or 8. In addition, I had enough to immediately upgrade to Mk IV stuff as soon as I hit Lt. Comm 1 - thanks to mission rewards, whether that be using them or selling them (to vendor, if nowhere else). Conversely, I found getting money as a Klingon very difficult, thanks to PvP being about the only non-boring way to level, and ended up simply using a Fed character to buy stuff and sending it to my Klingon character when he hit Lt. Comm. 1.

If you're saying that Fed Lts cannot equip Mk II items, you're just wrong about that, I'm afraid. Mk I and II is Lt. stuff, Mk III and IV is Lt. C. stuff, Mk V and VI is Commander stuff, and so on and so forth. This is true for both factions. If you're saying you cannot afford Mk II stuff until you're Lt. C. 1, well, I was able to, so that's only true for you.

No, sorry, Klingons start with better weapons, to compensate for the fact they have less opportunity to make money - and that's it. I seem to remember that, during beta, they started with equipment that was on par with Fed starting equipment, and, thanks to the lesser opportunity to upgrade, they played and felt quite gimped compared to Feds. If we get decent Klingon PvE content in, it might be an idea to tone down the starting weapons for Klingons, but that would have to carefully tested and balanced to avoid the gimpiness returning, as, even then, Klingons miss out on 4 levels of potentially money-making loot/quest rewards.

Its simple, there's nothing to do in this MMo :/ (FED / KDF).

But KDF have a very important mission and task. KILL, KILL, and KILL !

Engage ! & KILL xD !

There has been talk about making the tutorial only mandatory on your first character and then copy/pasting the Klingon start for other factions (including Federation) who would all start at level 5, roughly comparable to Klingons in terms of BOs and gear.
